It's no secret that Tom Brady is one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors, and Gayle King is ready to fall in love. The CBS Mornings co-host has quipped in the past that they could be a great couple, and this week she doubled down while talking to Office Romance stars Brett Goldstein and Jennifer Lopez.
On Thursday, King began talking to Goldstein about the film when they brought up manifesting. The Ted Lasso star revealed that she wrote the script with JLo in mind and was always a huge fan of her work.
"You're very good at manifesting," she said. Goldstein joked he was working on a new script with King as the leading lady when she shot her shot.
"Do I fall in love with Tom Brady?" The 71-year-old said, quipping, "No, does he fall in love with me? Fully ready to play wingman, Goldstein quipped, "'He does now!"
King went on to gush about the retired NFL star, saying, "I just think he's one of the nicest people." Although she walked it back, calling it an "obvious joke."
The chemistry between Lopez and Goldstein has been undeniable, and King joked that if something was to happen between them, she'd like to be included in "birthday parties, engagement parties, weddings."
Goldstein kept the joke going, saying, "Please invite us to the Tom and Gayle wedding." The journalist told him to let Brady know, since he's still "not aware" that she was crushing on him.
The 48-year-old might have some idea, though. Back in July 2024, she shared a gallery of photos at Michael Rubin's annual white party, and the first slide was her with a giant smile posing with him. "New couple alerts @tombrady and me," she quipped, adding "Naaah it’s a joke!"
Gayle King's journey with love
Her Brady crush admission comes after her headline-making appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast with host Alex Cooper. She didn't hold back when she opened up about finding her ex-husband, William Bumpus, cheating on her.
King said she headed home with their two young kids after her flight got canceled. “He comes flying out of the room. He's got a towel on, and he goes, ‘You can't come in,' ” King said.
After he revealed someone was in the house, she started searching inside. "I didn't believe him,” she said. “I get down, and there she is, cowering behind the door in my towel, Alex. It was a nice bath sheet.”
Not only was he mid-affair, but it was also with her friend, whom her kids referred to as their "aunt." In disbelief, she confronted the friend, whom she didn't name. “I even said, ‘I thought we were friends.' I sounded so pitiful." Thankfully, the nanny was able to get the kids away from the scene, and the police came.
The former couple shares daughter Kirby Bumpus, 40, and son William Bumpus Jr., 39, and they were married from 1982 to 1993.
After the episode, he apologized to TMZ and their children. "Those actions were mine. I have long owned them—including publicly in my own words in 2016, which still stand," he said, adding that she "has every right to share what was a painful chapter that changed the trajectory of our marriage and our family nearly forty years."
As for whether King and Brady could ever find love, he was making headlines with Alix Earle following his headline-making divorce from Gisele Bündchen. Although it's believed that it was a quick flame, he's back on the market.
