Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen may be divorced, but that doesn't mean he isn't keeping some of the tips he learned from her. After spending decades as one of the most recognizable athletes in the world, keeping his private life private requires some tricks.

It's hard enough being a normal person stopping your number from getting into the wrong hands. When you're an A-lister, it's probably unimaginable.

According to Lars Anderson, author of Brady: An American Story and the Price of Greatness, Brady regularly changes his cellphone number. The author said it's a privacy habit the former quarterback picked up from Bündchen.

“I subsequently learned as I was reporting this story that Tom changes his cell number all the time — it was a trick that he learned from Gisele,” Anderson told PEOPLE.

Bündchen has spent most of her adult life under a microscope, first as one of the world's biggest supermodels and later as half of one of the most famous couples in sports and entertainment.

But despite that level of fame, she has repeatedly made it clear that she doesn't particularly enjoy the noise that comes with it. This includes keeping her 2025 pregnancy a secret, as well as her marriage to Joaquim Valente.

In a 2023 interview with the Los Angeles Times, Bündchen addressed the endless speculation surrounding her divorce from Brady and the stories written about her personal life.

She pushed back against what she described as false reports and said she wanted to “take the high road” for the sake of their children. “I’m a simple girl who wants to be in nature - leave me alone. I just want to go do my job and raise my children in peace,” she said.

In another interview with CBS News that same year, she explained that she had reached a point where she could be more selective about what she wanted her life to look like. “I’m in a different place in my life. I’m able to choose more of what I want,” she said. “I think before I was more surviving, and now I’m living, which is different.”

Better days between Tom and Gisele

The couple's 2022 divorce was obviously anything but private. After 13 years of marriage, Brady and Bündchen announced their split in October 2022 and quickly found themselves at the center of intense speculation about what went wrong.

But in the years since, both have largely focused their public comments on co-parenting.  When Gisele spoke to Robin Roberts in 2024 about life after the divorce, she described it as a difficult transition but also a new chapter. “It’s definitely a time of transition that had to take place,” she said. “I don’t think you wish for that. But I think sometimes in life, things happen.”

She also made it clear that co-parenting meant accepting that their children would have different experiences in each household. “It’s natural that [they] have different rules and then kids just adapt,” she said. “I can only control what I do.”

Brady has similarly spoken about keeping the focus on Benjamin and Vivian. In 2023, he said he and Gisele had done “an amazing job” giving their children a strong foundation and said they would continue doing so.
