Even Chris Hemsworth can't talk his way past airport security. Despite being one of the most famous celebrity couples, they had a hilarious mix-up while trying to fly internationally with their kids.

They are one of Hollywood's most beloved couples

In a joint interview with Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, the Thor star shared one of his more embarrassing parenting moments, revealing that he once got his kids' passports mixed up while trying to board a plane.

Hemsworth said he arrived at the airport only to realize he had grabbed the wrong passport. Unfortunately, he didn't figure it out until it was too late. "I actually went to the airport once, and I had my daughter's passport instead of my son's passport," he said.

The actor, who shares daughter India, 14, and 12-year-old twin sons Sasha and Tristan with wife Elsa Pataky, admitted he tried convincing security that the passport belonged to his child. "They kind of look the same," he joked. Elsa immediately disagreed. "They don't," she shot back.

Hilariously, Hemsworth said he tried to gaslight the agent. "I said, 'This is her,'" he recalled. But the worker wasn't buying it, responding, "'That's a boy.'" "So, yeah, that didn't work," Hemsworth laughed.

Chris and Elsa have always been open about how much their lives revolve around their children. The couple has built a life largely away from Hollywood in Australia, where they're raising their three children.

The couple often shares glimpses into their lives on social media. Back in April, Hemsworth shared photos from a surf trip with his kids, calling it a longtime dream to be able to pack up and chase waves together. "It felt like overnight things went from me teaching them to surf to them making me feel completely inadequate as they dominate the lineup with such confidence!" he wrote.

Then in May, daughter India reminded everyone she's inherited her dad's fearless streak. The 14-year-old stunned both parents after successfully nailing a dirt bike jump that left Hemsworth in awe. Sharing the video on Instagram, the proud dad wrote, "Close call and wildly impressed my girl hung onto this landing! So proud."

The family has even started dipping their toes into the entertainment world together. India appeared alongside her dad in 2022's Thor: Love and Thunder, while twins Sasha and Tristan recently made their acting debut in Elsa's Spanish television series The Tribute.

Still, Chris has made it clear he doesn't want his kids to miss out on their childhood.  Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in 2023, he said he was excited about India's interest in acting but hoped she would focus on being a kid first.

"I want her to have a childhood, and I think so does she," Hemsworth said. "There's plenty of time, sweetie. Go to school, horse ride, have fun, be a kid."

As for the secret behind his marriage to Pataky after more than 15 years together, the couple says it's honesty. "There's an honesty, the north star of truth, that you're going to get with Elsa," Hemsworth previously told People. "I can show something to a bunch of other people, and they might be like, 'Oh, great work,' but Elsa will tell me if it sucks."

Pataky agreed, joking,  "I'll tell him, 'That's actually not funny. It doesn't work."
