Jamie Lee Curtis is grieving the loss of her older sister, Kelly Curtis, who has died at the age of 69.

The actress shared the sad news with fans on Instagram on Saturday, revealing that Kelly passed away peacefully at home earlier that morning. While Jamie Lee did not disclose a cause of death, she reflected on the close bond they shared throughout their lives.

The sisters were born into one of Hollywood's most famous families as the daughters of legendary actors Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh.

A Lifelong Friend and Confidante

In her emotional tribute, Jamie Lee described Kelly as much more than a sibling.

"A warm aloha to my older sister, Kelly Lee Curtis. She passed away this morning. In her home. In nature. At peace," she wrote.

The Halloween star went on to celebrate her sister's many qualities, calling her "my first friend and lifelong confidant."

Jamie Lee also praised Kelly's beauty and talent, writing: "She was jaw droppingly beautiful, and a talented actress."

Kelly's Life in Hollywood

Like her famous parents and younger sister, Kelly pursued a career in the entertainment industry.

She appeared in several film and television projects over the years, including the 1991 Italian horror movie The Devil's Daughter, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Dario Argento, who is known for directing the original Suspiria.

Kelly also worked behind the scenes on a number of productions. Among her credits were production assistant roles on several of Jamie Lee's films, including Freaky Friday, Christmas with the Kranks, and You Again.

Remembering Kelly's Passions and Personality

Jamie Lee's tribute painted a vivid picture of her sister's interests and the things she loved most.

"She played a mean game of hearts, collected turtles, loved her family, nature, music, thrifting, travel, Facebook, and Pokémon Go," she shared.

Kelly was also proud of her heritage. According to Jamie Lee, she deeply valued both her Danish roots and Hungarian Jewish ancestry and was "a devoted American patriot."

The actress said her sister would be remembered for her "loving generosity, fierce opinions, endless curiosity, unique style, and her powdered, almond, crescent cookies at Christmas," a tradition that earned her the family nickname "Auntie Cookie."

A Special Farewell

One of the memories that stood out most for Jamie Lee was the way Kelly ended her messages.

"Kelly always signed off any message or fare thee well with a Hungarian blessing…Isten Veled, God is with you," she wrote.

Jamie Lee ended her tribute by using the same blessing.

"Isten Veled to my sister of the sun and the moon, my Tai. I'll see you on down the line."

Growing Up in a Hollywood Dynasty

Kelly was born in Santa Monica in 1956, two years before Jamie Lee arrived.

Although the sisters grew up as the daughters of two major Hollywood stars, life behind the scenes was far from perfect. Their parents' marriage began to unravel during their childhood and ultimately ended in divorce when Kelly was just six years old.

Despite the challenges, Kelly and Jamie Lee maintained a close relationship throughout their lives, making the loss all the more heartbreaking for the Oscar-winning actress.

As fans and loved ones offer their condolences, Jamie Lee's touching tribute serves as a reminder of the deep connection the sisters shared and the lasting impact Kelly had on those around her.
