Nevertheless, after keeping her passing private for weeks, new details have emerged about the death of Ben Affleck and Casey Affleck's mother, Chris Affleck, including where she spent her final moments.

According to her death certificate, obtained by Us Weekly, her immediate cause of death was cardiopulmonary arrest, with pancreatic adenocarcinoma listed as an underlying condition. She had been living with the disease for months.
The document also reveals that Chris died while “visiting son’s residence” at 10:52 a.m. The address listed on the certificate is connected to Ben, meaning the longtime educator spent her final moments at her son's home.
The timing of her death comes with a bittersweet detail. Just two days earlier, Chris had fulfilled what her family described as her greatest wish following her cancer diagnosis when she watched Samuel graduate from middle school.
Chris was diagnosed in December 2025 and initially given six months to live, according to her obituary published in The Boston Globe.
“Her greatest wish after her diagnosis, however, was to live to see her grandson graduate high school,” the obituary read. “She did so, attending with her family on May 31, 2026. She died peacefully, in her sleep, two days later.”
