Charlize Theron had an amazing Mother's Day. Over the weekend, the actress celebrated the special day by sharing some rare photos alongside her daughters, Jackson, 14, and August, 11. She accompanied the images with a sweet message.
The photos were shared on Instagram and showed Theron, August, and Jackson over the years. The first image showed Theron lying on a boat, with her daughters napping on her chest. A second image showed the three smiling for a selfie, as the camera caught the sun behind them.
Theron added photos alongside their friends and her daughters, showing their growth through the years. She wrapped up the post with an adorable selfie showing her and one of her daughters making a face at the camera.
"The greatest honor of my life!" Theron captioned the post. "Happy mother’s day to all moms, oumas and godmothers," she concluded, adding a purple heart emoji.
Theron's sweet relationship with her daughters
While Theron has raised her daughters away from the spotlight, she often shares adorable details about them and their dynamic. Most recently, Theron revealed that her daughter August loves rock climbing, a sport that Theron pursued as she prepared for her new film "Apex." In an interview with E! News, Theron shared that she was trained by a professional rock climber called Beth Rodden.
"She's a bit of a daredevil," said Theron to E! News. "Beth and I would be working on one side, and whenever I got tired, I would just look over, and the two of them were just going up these walls."
Theron said that August helped her gain some perspective in her training. "Sometimes, as an adult, you get so caught up in the mechanics of it," she said. "And then you just look over and these kids who know nothing, they're just like, 'Gotta get to the top.'"
Theron adopted Jackson in 2012 and August in 2015. In interviews, she's discussed how important it was for her to adopt, deciding to raise them as a single mother. "Even when I was in relationships, I was always honest with my partners, that adoption was how my family would look one day," she said in an interview with PEOPLE. "This was definitely not a second option for me. It was always my first."
