Sydney Sweeney’s brief appearance in 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' has been cut from the final film, with sources describing the decision as part of a “creative decision” during editing rather than anything related to external speculation.

According to production insiders, the removal came down to pacing and structure. The scene, which lasted around three minutes, did not integrate smoothly into the opening sequence and ultimately disrupted the flow of the film.

The cut sequence would have introduced Emily Blunt’s character, Emily Charlton, in her new high-powered role at Dior’s U.S. headquarters in New York City.

In that moment, Charlton was meant to be seen working with a celebrity client, played by Sweeney as herself, in a short but notable cameo designed to highlight Charlton’s success early in the story.

Despite the decision, those involved in the production emphasized that Sweeney’s participation was appreciated. The removal was reportedly a difficult call for the team, even though it was considered a standard editorial choice.

The film’s writer, Aline Brosh McKenna, later confirmed that Sweeney does not appear in the finished version of the sequel, which is set to release on May 1, 2026.

Before the cut was confirmed, Sweeney’s involvement had already sparked significant online attention. In August 2025, she was spotted on set in New York City, arriving in casual sportswear and using an umbrella to shield herself from paparazzi. Photos and short clips circulated showing her presence near production trailers, despite efforts to keep her role quiet.

Sweeney addressed the speculation around her involvement in November 2025 when asked directly about the rumored set photos. She dismissed the idea at the time, saying, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

At the time, rumors intensified about her potential cameo, especially after speculation grew online. Some of that attention overlapped with broader public discussion surrounding her American Eagle campaign, which had already drawn controversy for its “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans” tagline.

Although Sweeney’s cameo will not appear in the final release, the episode has added another layer of attention around the production, which continues to draw buzz ahead of its theatrical debut.

Even with her scene cut, interest in the film remains high. 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' reunites Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, continuing the story years after the original film. The sequel follows Miranda Priestly still leading Runway, while Andy Sachs returns to the magazine and faces renewed professional tensions with Emily Charlton.
