Christina Applegate is reportedly hospitalized. The actress has been battling multiple sclerosis for years now, documenting her experiences in her podcast and memoir. A new report claims that Applegate was admitted to the hospital in late March.
As reported by TMZ, Applegate was admitted into the hospital in late March and remains hospitalized. The reasons for her stay remain unclear, with no clarification on whether the hospitalization is related to her disease, which she was diagnosed with in 2021.
In a statement, Applegate's representative didn't confirm nor deny the news. "I have no comment whether she is in the hospital or what her medical treatments are," they said to TMZ. "She's had a long history of complicated medical conditions that she has been refreshingly open about, as evidenced in her memoir and on her podcast."
In late March, Applegate's podcast "MeSsy," which she co-hosts with her fellow actress Jamie-Lynn Siegler, announced a brief hiatus due to book tours from both hosts and other engagements. Siegler is also diagnosed with MS.
The disease causes the breakdown of the protective covering of the nerves, resulting in numbness, weakness, trouble walking and controlling one's limbs, and more.
Applegate has discussed her disease in her podcast and memoir
Earlier this year, Applegate published her first book, called "You With the Sad Eyes." In a February interview with USA Today, she said she was "sick as a dog," with her disease making it more likely for her to contract viral infections.
She published her book four years after the final season of the TV show "Dead To Me," her last performance to date. "I worked every day of my life for 50 years and here I was, kind of stopped in my tracks. An agent asked if I wanted to write a book. I said, 'I guess now is the time because I’m freaking bored. I ran out of ‘Real Housewives’ episodes so I might as well write one.' Two and a half years later, here we are," she said in an interview with the New York Times.
In her podcast, Applegate has revealed that she has been in and out of urgent care ever since she was diagnosed with MS. "For three years, since I was diagnosed, I've been in the hospital upwards of 30 times," she said. "That is unimaginable, OK? They've done every test known to man on me, put so much radiation into my body from CT scans to everything else."
