Brooklyn Beckham’s ex-girlfriend, Hana Cross, is finally addressing her past relationship with the eldest son of Victoria and David Beckham. In a candid new interview with our sister magazine, HELLO!, the 28-year-old model revisited her nine-month romance and let’s say she didn’t sugarcoat anything.
Cross’s reflections come amidst Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham's ongoing public rift with the Beckhams.
“It Caused Me a Lot of Anxiety”
Hana didn’t hold back when describing the impact their relationship allegedly had on her mental health. “My time with the family caused me a lot of anxiety, in all honesty,” she told HELLO! “There were a lot of warning signs and things that happened during the relationship that, in hindsight, should have made me think and maybe end the relationship or walk away from it a lot sooner than I did.”
According to Hana, going from farm life to the global spotlight was sudden and overwhelming. “I was only 20, 21 when we dated, and I had just started modeling,” Hana explained. “I came from living on a farm to moving to London and being thrown into a relationship like that.”
She said that the rapid shift from a quiet upbringing to constant public attention left her puzzled. “It’s hard to know what’s best to do in that situation,” she continued. “No one really knew, and I didn’t, really. It wasn’t something that I was super-open about, so advice from outside was hard to take.”
Years have passed, but Hana is still has a clear vision of that period of her life. “I had that chapter in my life and wanted to move on from it,” she said. “It’s hard not to be mentally drawn back into that part of my life, especially with all this feud stuff coming out. It’s hard because I don’t look back on that as a fond time, on reflection.”
Despite her anxiety claims, Hana emphasized that she was never silenced by Brooklyn’s parents. “I’ve never been pressured or received any warning from them not to speak out about it or say anything about the relationship,” she clarified. “After it happened, I just wanted to move on and make my own life and my own name for myself.”
Hana even said she has empathy toward the ongoing situation between Brooklyn and his family. “In terms of reconciling, I hope that they do, purely because they’re a family and I think family is extremely important,” she said. “I’m sure that whatever happens can be healed over time. That’s all I can really say on that.”
Despite the drama, David and Victoria have reflected on sweet memories with Brooklyn. When British photographer Platon posted throwback photos from 2006, featuring the former footballer with Brooklyn's name tattooed on his back, David replied underneath the post: "Good memories." The former Spice Girl wrote: "Brings back great memories!"
According to the photographer, "Victoria arrived with Brooklyn, who was seven years old, Romeo, who was four and Cruz, who was just a baby. Brooklyn and Romeo charged into the studio wearing football kits, kicking balls, doing headers and other tricks."
He continued, "While Victoria was busy with the children, I started work with David. At one point, Brooklyn ran on set with his football under his arm and hugged his dad's right leg. Then, Romeo joined his older brother. Then, Victoria also appeared with baby Cruz in her arms. The whole family turned away from us for a private heartfelt group hug. It was a poignant thing to see—this spontaneous moment of affection happening on a giant photography set in front of 60 people."
The photographer concluded his caption by writing, "In this picture, although David stands alone, we see the love of his children tattooed onto his back. Family is everything. David Beckham, I salute you."
