Soccer was in full swing this weekend. Sunday saw House of Heroes’ inaugural The Legends Series LA at BMO Stadium, where Barça Legends and Real Madrid Leyendas took the pitch, with icons like Ronaldinho, Marcelo, Rafael Márquez, and Luis Figo, while Carmen Electra stepped in as Official Ball Presenter. Among the familiar faces watching was Sam Asghari.

Sam Asghari said soccer holds a special place in his heart

HOLA! had the chance to interview Asghari, who opened up about his relationship with soccer and what he's been up to. “I grew up watching some of these players, and it feels great to see them right at home here in Los Angeles. I love the fact that we’re bringing these legends to America and making America realize how important soccer - slash football - really is," he told us.

Soccer has always been personal for him. “I grew up in a country where soccer is the number one sport,” he shared. “I grew up playing football in Iran." After he moved to the USA, he played American football and gave it up. “Now I just go back and watch all those games. That’s where my heart is.”

Since February is the month of love, we asked how his heart is doing. He was in a relationship with real estate agent Brooke Irvine, and while it's unclear if they're still together, he replied, “My heart is great." “Right now, it’s dedicated to my country and what they’re going through. They’re in a revolution phase, and it’s amazing to see people come together.”

After booming into the limelight with his relationship with his ex-wife, Britney Spears, Asghari's name will probably always be correlated with hers. When we asked if he ever gets tired of the questions about her, his answer was calm and sweet. “Life is about embracing what you’ve gone through,” he said. “That’s something that makes you who you are. So I never get tired of a big part of my life.”

Since his highly publicized relationship ended, Asghari has leaned deeper into his own lane with acting, fitness, and building a career that isn’t defined by who he once stood next to. He’s continued auditioning, working on screen projects, and expanding his presence in wellness and fitness. He's also been using his platform to stay vocal about humanitarian issues.

As 2026 begins, his mindset is less about wishing and more about doing. “I put the manifestation into action,” he said. “That’s something we see in sports - you have to put it into action. Everything I’ve done, everything I’m doing, it’s paying off.”

He also said his "biggest goal in life is to be inspirational." “Hopefully I can do something to give back and inspire others to do the same.”
