Shakira never stops surprising us with her creativity and intelligence, and this time she chose to celebrate a very special date with all her fans in China. On February 17th, Lunar New Year festivities begin, and in 2026, it marks the Year of the Fire Horse. Excited about this ancient tradition that resonates around the world, the Colombian superstar once again impressed audiences with her gift for languages, delivering a message in flawless Mandarin to her fans across Asia.

Shakira sent a very special message to her fans in China

“Hello, China! Happy Chinese New Year to everyone!” she says in a video posted to her Instagram Stories. Dressed in red in honor of the Fire Horse, Shakira smiled from her home as she greeted her fans, who have supported her throughout her career. To make the moment even more special, she hinted that her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour could soon be heading to Asia. “See you soon! I love you, kisses!” she added.

This is not the first time Shakira has shown her commitment to learning about cultures and countries beyond her native Colombia. In addition to Spanish, she speaks more than six languages fluently, including English, Catalan, Portuguese, French, Italian, Arabic and now Chinese. It is also worth noting that in 2021, the website Cociente de Inteligencia reported that the singer has an IQ of 140, ranking her among the most intelligent women in the world.

Celebrating One Year on Tour

On February 11, Shakira marked one year on the road with Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, a tour that kicked off in Brazil and has taken her across Latin America, the United States and Canada. Performing to a sold-out crowd at Estadio Jorge Mágico González in San Salvador, the singer celebrated the milestone in front of her “wolfpack.” She also took to social media to share her excitement about this incredible year by their side.

“Celebrating one year since the tour began. Thank you to my wolfpack for making me so happy these past 365 days,” she wrote on Instagram alongside photos recapping the musical journey. Her friend and the show’s choreographer, Maite Marcos, sent her a special gift to mark the anniversary along with a heartfelt note.

And we follow you to the rhythm of your music.” Maite also gifted her a sweet mini harmonica, which Shakira began playing in a video shared on her Instagram Stories.
