Joseph Baena is following in his father's footsteps. Arnold Schwarzenegger's son is an actor and also the only one of his kids who's developed a passionate interest in bodybuilding. This sport launched Schwarzenegger's career to fame and made him one of the largest Hollywood icons in the '80s and beyond.
Baena shared a video on Instagram, showing him alongside some friends as he showed off some classic bodybuilding poses. The clip shows him wearing grey shorts, white sneakers, and white socks, with his hair long and held back with a headband.
Set to the song "Tears for Fears," the clip showed Baena alongside two of his buff friends. The three show off some of their most impressive bodybuilding poses, with Baena looking huge and very reminiscent of his father when he was at the peak of his career as a bodybuilder, precluding such hits like "Conan the Barbarian," which featured Schwarzenegger with long hair, very similar to the way Baena looks currently.
"It’s only right that when the lads from Australia are in town, we gotta hit the classic poses," Baena captioned the post.
Baena is one of Schwarzenegger's five children: Katherine, 35, Christina, 33, Patrick, 31, Christopher, 27, and Baena himself, who's also 27. He's the son of Mildred Baena
Baena's commitment to bodybuilding
Over the past, Baena has opened up about his relationship to bodybuilding, specifically the fact that he was a little bigger when he was a kid.
“People sometimes forget that I used to be chubby in high school," wrote Baena in one of his posts' captions. "I got cut from my basketball and soccer team because I couldn’t keep up with the other kids. Swim didn’t have tryouts thankfully and completely changed my life forever. That was my introduction to Fitness and training. Everyone starts somewhere but starting is the most important.”
In interviews with different outlets, Baena has shared some of the challenges he faced as an overweight kid.
“I was bullied when I was a kid, elementary, middle school, and not really in high school, but I just felt like an outsider in high school at the beginning,” Baena said to PEOPLE. “It was my closest friends that were the ones that bullied me the most and made fun of me for being overweight and all these kind of things.”
