Jennifer Lopez and Leah Remini texted each other after their headline-making divorces

Hollywood friendships can be fleeting, much like the marriages they sometimes orbit. But when it comes to Leah Remini and Jennifer Lopez, their bond is built for the long haul. In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Leah Remini, 54, opened up about her enduring friendship with Lopez, 55. While acknowledging that adult friendships naturally evolve over time, their sisterhood is as solid as ever.

"Right after the divorce, we'd text each other loving messages of support," Remini shared. "Sometimes you don't talk to people every day like you used to, but that doesn't mean the love is lost. Friendships ebb and flow. That doesn't mean we're at odds."

Which divorce, you ask? Great question, because both ladies have recently made headlines for precisely that.

Leah Remini's Split After 21 Years

In August 2024, Remini filed for divorce from her husband of 21 years, actor Angelo Pagán. The two share a 20-year-old daughter, Sofia Bella Pagán, and finalized their split by October of the same year. While she's currently in no mood to dive back into dating, she's candid about what led to the end of her marriage.

"You become friends, but there's more to marriage than that. I saw that Angelo wanted something different," she explained. "When you're giving what you give in a relationship, but it's not what the person wants, it's like, 'So you don't appreciate what I'm doing? Well, I don't appreciate what you're doing because that's not what I want.'"

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck in August 2024 after just two years of marriage. The couple, famously dubbed "Bennifer," tied the knot (twice) in 2022, once in Las Vegas and again in a grand ceremony in Georgia.

According to a source who spoke with PEOPLE in March, Lopez has since hit pause on romance and shifted her focus back to what she does best: working. "She's happy as it is. Life goes on, and if anyone can move forward and be positive about it, it's Jennifer," the source said. "She sees everything as a lesson. She was hurt by their sudden separation and Ben's unwillingness to work on the marriage. She really wanted it to work out."

What's powerful about Lopez and Remini's friendship is that it transcends the glitz. These aren't just red-carpet besties. They've weathered marriages, divorces, career highs, and public scrutiny, leaning on each other when the spotlight gets a little too bright.
