When it comes to stunts, Tom Cruise has a solid track record of pulling off the impossible. But even Ethan Hunt couldn't dodge this red carpet curveball. During the Monday night premiere of "Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning" in New York City, the 62-year-old actor found himself in the hot seat, and not the stunt-rigged, high-speed-motorbike-jump kind.
An E! News reporter innocently asked what his ideal Father's Day looked like. Cruise, who's famously tight-lipped about his private life, paused, gazed into the distance like he'd just spotted a rogue helicopter, and responded with a slow, "You know…" before trailing off.

The Internet didn't miss a beat
The clip made its rounds online within hours, and social media did what it does best. "Making movies? That's definitely not a Dad activity. His loss," a person wrote, hoping he would make a comment about any of his kids, including Suri Cruise, his 19-year-old daughter with ex-wife Katie Holmes.

He adopted Isabella (now 32) and Connor (30) during his marriage to Nicole Kidman, which ended in 2001. In 2006, he and Holmes welcomed Suri before their very public divorce in 2012.
Since then, the actor's relationship with Suri has been reportedly non-existent. While Katie Holmes raised her daughter in New York City, far from the Hollywood bubble, Suri grew up largely out of the spotlight, aside from the occasional paparazzi flashbulb.
She graduated from the prestigious LaGuardia High School in 2024 and is now attending Carnegie Mellon University. At her graduation, it was revealed that she goes by the name Suri Noelle, her mother's middle name, and is ditching the "Cruise" altogether.
