Meryl Streep and Martin Short are happy together. The pair, who stirred rumors of romance last year after starring in the series "Only Murders in the Building" and being spotted sitting next to each other at various events, have been dating for over a year according to a new report.

“Meryl couldn’t help but fall for Martin,” continued the source. “He is a gentleman, he keeps her laughing and is an all-around positive person. She loves being around him.”
The insider claims Streep and Short's family and friends support the relationship. Their kids "think they’re adorable together," they said.

Streep and Short are both notorious and well-respected actors in their genres, with Streep being the preeminent dramatic actress in Hollywood and Short a comedy icon.
The source claims that even though their social circles overlapped, they never considered each other a romantic possibility until they began spending time together in "Only Murders in the Building." Coincidentally, the two play each other's love interests.

Streep recently divorced Don Gummer, her partner of 45 years and father of her children. Before that, she dated John Cazale, who died of cancer in 1978.
Short shares a similar story; he lost his wife of three decades, Nancy Dolman, to ovarian cancer in 2010. “Meryl and Martin have bonded over the loss of their exes,” said the insider.
