Coco Gauff is hosting her first Thanksgiving party. The 20 year old tennis star has just moved into her new home in Florida, living alone for the first time, and has kicked off the holidays early. On November 25th, Gauff hosted a Friendsgiving with some of her closest friends and cousins, sharing some updates on social media.
© Katelyn MulcahyGauff revealed that everyone would be contributing with food to the party, revealing that she baked a sweet potato pie.
"Made sweet potato pie for the first time," she wrote on social media. "I'm always gonna be the older cousin that invites herself to be in the tiktok."
She shared that her guests contributed with various delicious dishes, including "4 loaves, 2 regular, one chocolate chip, one walnut banana bread."
It marks the second year where Gauff has documented her cooking on Thanksgiving, with last year revealing that she tried and failed to bake a banana bread.
"The bananas were like, too ripe, because you're supposed to wait," she said. "I think I waited too long, so I threw them away."
"I tried to freestyle it, without it and that came out awful. I tried to make it for my fitness coach for his birthday, but then when I tested it, I was [like], 'I can not give him this.' I was really disappointed in that, because banana bread is what I'm good at. I just thought that I would be good enough to maybe, you know, skip a couple ingredients."
Coco Gauff's amazing 2024 season
Coco Gauff's career continues to blossom. This year, she capped off her season with an incredible achievement, becoming the youngest WTA Finals winner since Maria Sharapova in 2004. Gauff's win awarded her with the biggest single prize in WTA history: 4.8 million dollars.
When asked about breaking the record for youngest player, Gauff said, “I asked (about the record) as soon as I got the match," she said, per WTA.
“I asked: ‘Was this the youngest? It has to be some kind of record.’ I asked the Sky team, what was the answer. They didn’t have it, but that’s good to know."
She then shared that she was born in 2004, finding some poetry and meaning in the coincidence. “It was 2004. The year I was born was the last time, so in my lifetime, basically, I’ve never seen it. That’s pretty cool. It just shows age is a number both ways, old and young.”
