John Stamos and Dave Couilier have been friends for years, ever since they starred in the beloved series "Full House."

Following Coulier's cancer diagnosis, Stamos shared a photo of the two sporting bald heads while sharing some words of support. The post sparked controversy due to the fact that Stamos was wearing a bald cap. Coulier came forward to support his friend.

"I'm sorry to see a bunch of negative comments as I've just begun my cancer journey," wrote Coulier on Instagram.

"It's our friendship (me and John) and this is how we are handling a very tough time. I'm a comedian and humor is what drives me. John knows how to cheer me up and I laughed out loud when he arrived wearing a bald cap - being a true loving friend and brother."

"I have heard from so many people who have been inspired enough by my words and actions to say they are going to check in with their doctors and get mammograms, a colonoscopy or a prostate exam," he continued.

"I'm still going to laugh in the face of adversity."

More details about Stamos' controversial post

Stamos' initial post showed him and Couilier smiling brightly for the cameras, with more images showing him kissing Coulier's head alongside Melissa Coulier, his wife.

"Nothing like throwing on a bald cap and flexing some Photoshop skills to show some love and solidarity with my bro @dcoulier," wrote Stamos.

"You’re handling this with so much strength and positivity—it’s inspiring. I know you’re going to get through this, and I’m proud to stand with you every step of the way. I love you (p.s. - @melissacoulier is the most wonderfulest - your true life line!)"

Stamos' story with the Church of Scientology

Earlier this year, Stamos addressed some more controversy. In an appearance on the podcast "Friends in High Places," Stamos discussed his experience with the Church of Scientology, a topic he's previously discussed in his memoir, "If You Would Have Told Me."

He revealed that the reason he joined the church was because a hot girl invited him. "With me, I was in an acting class and there was a hot girl [who] said to me, 'You know we're all meeting at this [place] on Hollywood Boulevard, you should come after [class]," he said.

After arriving at the Scientology building, Stamos took a test on the church's "E-meter" device and didn't take the whole thing very seriously, prompting his swift departure. "I was doing a 'Peabody and Sherman' [impression] and they didn't like that," Stamos said.

"Then, I was just f---ing around so much, they said, 'Get out [and] get going.' They just kicked me out."
