Princess Marie brought a little sparkle to an evening of Danish diplomacy in Washington, D.C. Stepping out alongside Prince Joachim, the royal paired sleek black tailoring with embellished trousers, offering an elegant approach to dressing up after dark.
The couple attended a reception and dinner for Denmark’s honorary consuls in the United States on Thursday, October 22. Held at the Danish Embassy, the gathering also welcomed Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
For the occasion, Marie wore a fitted black blazer with contrasting satin lapels and a single-button fastening. A lace-trimmed black top peeked out beneath the jacket, adding a delicate texture to its structured silhouette.
Her wide-leg trousers supplied the outfit’s most eye-catching detail. Scattered with tiny sparkling embellishments, they gave the monochromatic combination a festive finish while keeping the overall look understated. The subtle shimmer also created a pleasing contrast with the blazer’s smooth fabric and glossy lapels.
Marie carried a small black clutch and finished the ensemble with delicate jewelry, including earrings and layered necklaces. Her brunette hair fell loosely around her shoulders, with soft waves complementing the polished tailoring.
The outfit offered an easy eveningwear idea as the holiday season approaches, mixing a classic blazer with trousers that bring a little shine. Keeping both pieces in black allowed the different textures to stand out without competing for attention.
Joachim complemented his wife in a dark suit, a pale shirt and a light lavender tie, adding a pale blue pocket square. In one photograph, the couple posed together beside the red carpet outside before joining the reception.
The evening included a special presentation, with Joachim awarding knight’s crosses to three of the honorary consuls. Photographs shared by the Danish Royal House captured the prince presenting one of the decorations, as well as the couple speaking with guests.
The engagement also reflected the family’s continuing ties to the American capital. Joachim began his role as Denmark’s defense industry attaché in Washington in September 2023.
His appointment was subsequently extended through the end of August 2027, with the palace confirming that Marie and their children, Count Henrik and Countess Athena, would remain in the city with him.
