Princess Charlene brought a touch of Hollywood glamour to Monte Carlo, stepping out in a champagne gown that shimmered from its asymmetric neckline to its floor-length hem. With intricate embellishment, a flowing cape sleeve and statement diamond earrings, her evening look offered plenty to admire up close.
The princess joined Prince Albert II to welcome Italian President Sergio Mattarella and his daughter, Laura, at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo during his state visit to the principality. The evening included a performance by Italian mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli, followed by an official dinner at the Prince’s Palace.
For the occasion, Charlene chose an Elie Saab gown in a warm champagne shade with a delicate blush undertone. Its fitted bodice defined her waist before giving way to a long, gently flowing skirt, while the one-shoulder neckline left her right shoulder bare.
The dress’s most striking feature was its cape-like sleeve. Falling from the covered shoulder, the embellished fabric extended almost to the floor, adding movement and a dramatic sweep to the otherwise streamlined silhouette.
Elie Saab’s design combines a fitted bodice with a draped cape sleeve and a floor-length column shape. Across the gown, closely arranged beadwork created a glittering pattern, with delicate lace becoming more visible through the skirt.
The combination gave the dress depth. Dense sparkle around the bodice softened into a lighter, more airy effect toward the hem. Metallic pointed-toe shoes, just visible beneath the skirt, picked up the shine of the embellishment.
Charlene left her neckline free of a necklace and wore no tiara, allowing the dress and her chandelier-style earrings to take center stage. The diamond earrings are from Graff’s Gypsy collection, featuring an open circular shape and dangling fringe that framed her face beautifully, adding another layer of sparkle without covering the asymmetric neckline.
Her beauty look brought softness to the richly embellished ensemble. Charlene’s blonde hair was swept back with volume at the crown and gentle waves through the front, with a loose curled strand beside her face. The styling kept her earrings visible while giving the formal look a relaxed, romantic finish.
Her makeup followed the same balance. Softly smoky eyes, dark eyeliner and defined lashes emphasized her gaze, while rosy cheeks and a muted pink lip complemented the gown’s warm coloring. The result felt polished and glamorous, with the strongest definition concentrated around her eyes.
Earlier in the day, Charlene had welcomed the Italian president in an ivory Dior trouser suit. Her evening change kept the pale palette but introduced a completely different mood through shimmering beadwork, a bare shoulder and that sweeping sleeve.
It was a fitting fashion moment for a historic occasion. Mattarella’s trip marked the first state visit by an Italian head of state to Monaco.
