Kate Middleton returned to Centre Court on Saturday for the 2026 Wimbledon women’s singles final, where fellow Czechs Linda Nosková and Karolína Muchová met in the tournament’s first all-Czech women’s championship match. The Princess of Wales received warm applause as she arrived at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club and took her seat in the Royal Box.
As patron of the All England Club since 2016, Kate attends Wimbledon in an official capacity, not simply as a devoted tennis fan. Her appearances have also become some of the tournament’s most anticipated style moments. This year, she wore a striking red Roland Mouret dress with the green-and-purple club ribbon that has become a familiar feature of her Wimbledon looks, a subtle detail reflecting her official role at the Championships.
A Striking Red Dress by One of Her Trusted Designers
For her second Wimbledon appearance of 2026, the Princess of Wales once again turned to Roland Mouret, a designer she has frequently chosen for prominent royal engagements.
She wore a vivid red midi dress with a wrap-style V-neckline, a slim matching belt, and a sculpted peplum that defined the waist before flowing into a sleek, clean-lined skirt. Elegant and understated, the look reflected the polished aesthetic that has become one of Kate’s hallmarks.
She completed the outfit with nude heels and a coordinating taupe handbag, keeping the focus firmly on the dress. Ruby-and-diamond jewelry complemented its rich color and added a restrained touch of sparkle.
Her hair was styled half up, with the remaining lengths falling over her shoulders in soft, voluminous waves. Still, the detail that caught the attention of longtime royal watchers was the distinctive green-and-purple ribbon pinned to her dress.
A Small Detail With Special Significance
The ribbon represents the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, the organization behind Wimbledon. Green and purple are the club’s traditional colors.
Kate has worn the ribbon at Wimbledon since succeeding Queen Elizabeth II as the club’s patron in December 2016. Queen Elizabeth had held the position for 64 years before relinquishing the role.
The bow has since become a familiar part of Kate’s Wimbledon wardrobe, reflecting her official association with the club, particularly during the finals, when she traditionally presents the trophies to the champion and runner-up.
The accessory may be small, but its significance is clear. It reflects both her enthusiasm for tennis and her responsibilities as patron of the All England Club.
Her Signature Natural Beauty Look
The Princess of Wales kept her beauty look polished and understated. She swept the front sections of her brunette hair away from her face and wore the rest loose in soft waves over her shoulders. Her makeup featured luminous skin, softly defined eyes, and a neutral lip.
A Meaningful Wimbledon Tradition
Kate has missed the Wimbledon women’s singles final only twice since becoming the club’s patron. She did not attend the match in 2017, although she appeared earlier in the tournament and returned for the men’s final. She was also absent from the women’s final in 2024 while undergoing cancer treatment but attended the men’s final the following day.
Earlier in the 2026 tournament, Kate made an unannounced visit on Day 4. She met spectators waiting in Wimbledon’s famous Queue, spoke with volunteers and fans, and watched play on one of the outside courts.
She also participated in the digital series Overheard at Wimbledon: Royal Special, wearing a microphone that recorded portions of her conversations with All England Club chair Debbie Jevans and former British tennis player Tim Henman.
Wimbledon Is a Middleton Family Tradition, Too
The 2026 Championships have drawn a strong turnout from both the British royal family and the Middleton family.
Queen Camilla attended Day 10 with her sister, Annabel Elliot. Peter Phillips and his wife, Harriet Phillips, were also present that day, along with Zara and Mike Tindall. Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester, attended during the second week, while the Duke of Kent, a former president of the All England Club, was present on the opening day of the tournament. Lady Sarah Chatto was also among the extended royal family members seen at the Championships.
The Middletons were well represented throughout the tournament. Kate’s mother, Carole Middleton, attended with Pippa Matthews on one day and with Michael Middleton on another. Her brother, James Middleton, and his wife, Alizée Thevenet, joined the crowd for Saturday’s women’s final.
The final marked Kate’s second major public appearance in two days. On Friday, she accompanied Prince William to the annual Royal Charity Polo Cup at Guards Polo Club, making her first appearance at the event since 2023.
Kate was also expected to return to Centre Court on Sunday for the men’s singles final, where, as club patron, she would traditionally present the championship trophy to the winner.
