Princess Madeleine and Princess Leonore wore shades of purple to the christening of the youngest member of the Swedish royal family: Princess Ines. They, along with Christopher O'Neill, Prince Nicolas and Princess Adrienne, attended the service on Friday, June 13, at Drottningholm Palace Chapel.
Madeleine coordinated with her 11-year-old daughter Leonore’s Mango dress, choosing a sophisticated Safiyaa number, identified by UFO No More, for the service. The 43-year-old Princess completed her look with a matching netted headband and floral earrings. Like her mom, seven-year-old Princess Adrienne also opted for a headband, which complemented her printed dress.
The service on Friday was a royal family affair. Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Princess Estelle, Prince Oscar, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia also joined Princess Sofia, Prince Carl Philip and their four children at Princess Ines' christening.
Madeleine, Christopher and their three kids—who are tenth, eleventh and twelfth in line to the Swedish throne—moved from Florida to Sweden last year. The Swedish Royal Court stated in June of 2024 (translated to English): "After several years living abroad, the Princess and Mr. Christopher O'Neill have decided that the family will live in Stockholm for the time being."
The family of five had been living in the Sunshine State since 2018. The Swedish Royal Court announced in 2023 that Princess Madeleine, who is the youngest of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia's children, and her husband had decided to "relocate to Sweden indefinitely," but their move ended up being postponed until 2024.
Madeleine spoke with Mama in 2019 about what she "really missed" in Sweden. She shared, "The children have been looking forward to coming to Sweden for such a long time, to their rooms and to their things. But also because we are outside so much more here than we are in Florida. It's so hot there, and you can only be outside for short periods, so for them to be able to be out in the forest and run around, it's a dream. And it's something that I have really missed myself."
Months after moving to her native Sweden, Princess Madeleine told PEOPLE, "The U.S. will always remain close to my heart."
