Queen Sonja of Norway has been discharged from the hospital. The Norwegian Royal House shared an update on Her Majesty on Tuesday, revealing that the 87-year-old royal has left National Hospital, where she was admitted the night before due to shortness of breath. According to the Royal House's update on April 22 (translated to English), "Investigations show that the situation has normalized."
The Queen will now be on sick leave for the remainder of the week. It was announced on April 21 that King Harald V's wife—who was at the Royal Mountain Chalet "Prinsehytta," located in the mountains of Jotunheimen in Sikkilsdalen—had been taken by air ambulance to National Hospital on Monday evening.

"The Queen was transported by air ambulance from the Prince's Cabin in Sikkilsdalen, where the Royal Couple spent the Easter holiday."
Her Majesty was also hospitalized earlier this year. In January, Queen Sonja was admitted to Lillehammer Hospital after suffering atrial fibrillation during a skiing trip. The Royal House noted at the time that the situation was "not considered serious." The Norwegian royal was discharged the following day, and days later had a pacemaker inserted.

One was a visit to Oslo's Sofienberg Church, where Her Majesty was set to be given a tour of the site to see how Spireverket is contributing to the work of transforming the church into a cultural center for children, youth and the neighborhood. The Queen was then due later that day to attend the opening of the "AK Dolven. Amazon" exhibition at the National Museum. The engagements no longer appear on the Royal House's official program.
The Queen's next engagement is scheduled for April 29. That day, she and the King will hold a reception at the Royal Palace for recipients of the King's Medal of Merit.
Queen Sonja has been married to King Harald V since August 1968. Their Majesties share two kids: Crown Prince Haakon and Princess Märtha Louise. When her husband ascended the throne in 1991, Sonja became Norway's first Queen in 53 years. Harald has previously stated that he does not plan on abdicating. According to VG, the King said last year (translated to English), "I stand by what I have said all along, I have taken an oath to the Storting and it lasts for life."
