The Princess of Wales will be out on St. Patrick's Day. Her Royal Highness is set to visit the Irish Guards at Wellington Barracks on Monday, March 17, for the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Catherine is Colonel of the Irish Guards, a role she took over from her husband, the Prince of Wales, in 2022.

The upcoming engagement will mark Catherine's first time back at the parade since 2023. The Princess missed the event last year while recovering from abdominal surgery that she had two months earlier, in January. Five days after St. Patrick's Day 2024, Her Royal Highness revealed that she was undergoing a course of preventative chemotherapy.

While the Princess made an appearance at Trooping the Colour last June, she did not take part in the Colonel’s Review the weekend before. In a letter to the Irish Guards, Catherine penned, “I wanted to write and let you know how proud I am of the entire Regiment ahead of the Colonel’s review and Trooping of the Colour. I appreciate everyone trooping this year has been practicing for months, and dedicating many hours to ensuring their uniforms and drill are immaculate."

"Being your Colonel remains a great honour, and I am very sorry that I'm unable take the salute at this year's Colonel's Review. Please pass my apologies to the whole Regiment, however I do hope that I am able to represent you all once again very soon. Please send my very best wishes and good luck to all involved," she continued, signing the letter off with "Quis Separabit" and "Colonel Catherine."

The Irish Guards shared the Princess' letter on X, writing, "The Irish Guards were deeply touched to receive a letter from our Colonel, Her Royal Highness, The Princess of Wales this morning. We continue to wish Her Royal Highness well in her recovery and send Her our very best wishes."

The Princess of Wales recently returned to another event that she did not attend last year. Catherine joined members of the royal family at the Commonwealth Day service of celebration held at Westminster Abbey on March 10. The Princess looked radiant in red and wearing jewelry that belonged to Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana for the occasion.

Catherine announced back in September that she had completed her chemotherapy treatment. She then revealed this past January that she is in remission. In a personal message following her first public appearance of 2025, the Princess of Wales wrote, "It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support."
