It’s January 10th, which means it’s Houseplant Appreciation Day. Houseplants are the perfect way to add life and beauty to your space. Even if you don’t have a “green thumb” or a ton of time to spend on them, as long as you have access to water, there are plenty of low-maintenance options for you. Despite looking pretty, there are various benefits of them, including improved air quality by absorbing pollutants, enhanced mood, increased productivity, and concentration. So if you have the means, head out to your local plant shop today to celebrate and bring home one of these easy green beauties.

ZZ Plant (Zamioculcas zamiifolia)

Light: Tolerates low light conditions but can also adapt to bright, indirect light.

Watering: Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. ZZ plants are quite drought-tolerant and can survive with infrequent watering. This is another plant that can be neglected.

Aloe Vera is beautiful and you can even use it for your skin or hair. Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light but can tolerate some direct sunlight.

Watering: Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. It prefers slightly drier conditions and can withstand periods of neglect.

There are many different types of Pothos and they all have the same care. You can use them as hanging plants or let them vine across your home. Light: Tolerates low light conditions but can also adapt to bright, indirect light.

Watering: Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. ZZ plants are quite drought-tolerant and can survive with infrequent watering.

Light: Thrives in indirect light but can tolerate low light conditions. You can pretty much put this plant anywhere in your home.

Watering: Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Be cautious not to overwater, as snake plants are susceptible to root rot. But this plant can be neglected and end up okay.

Money trees are not only beautiful, they’re easy to care for and believed to bring you good luck and positive energy. Placing it in the wealth sector or the southeast corner of a room is believed to attract financial prosperity.

Light: Bright, indirect light; can tolerate some direct sunlight.

Watering: Allow top inch of soil to dry between waterings; avoid overwatering.

There are over over 10,000 known species of succulents and they’re probably the easiest plant to find. Light: Prefer bright, indirect light. Some can tolerate direct sunlight.

Watering: Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Succulents are sensitive to overwatering, so don’t keep the soil consistently damp.
