At 60, Elizabeth Hurley is proving that some fashion moments truly never go out of style. During a recent trip to India in March 2026, the British actress revisited one of the most memorable looks of her career by stepping out in the same black Versace gown she originally wore to the Met Gala in 1999.
Nearly three decades later, the striking design still fits just as flawlessly. Hurley shared the nostalgic moment with fans on Instagram, posting a side-by-side comparison of the original red carpet appearance and her new look.
“Viva Versace! For this weekend’s adventure in India, I dug into my archives and unearthed one of my favourite pieces, which I last wore to the Met Gala in 1999, 27 years may have passed, but some loves never fade,” she wrote in the caption.
The gown first made headlines when Hurley wore it to the 1999 Met Gala in New York, an edition that celebrated the exhibition “Rock Style.” Designed by Donatella Versace, the black satin halter dress featured a dramatic plunging neckline, a thigh-high slit, and a jeweled cluster at the waist in shades of pink and amber.
The daring silhouette instantly stood out on the red carpet and reinforced Hurley’s long-standing relationship with the Italian fashion house. That connection had already captured global attention years earlier, when Hurley wore the now legendary safety pin dress by the late Gianni Versace to the 1994 London premiere of the film Four Weddings and a Funeral alongside then boyfriend Hugh Grant.
For the gown’s 2026 revival, Hurley added a few modern touches. Instead of the minimalist styling from the original appearance, she accessorized the look with chandelier earrings, a pendant necklace, and a silver crystal bindi, giving the archival piece a subtle update for the occasion in Delhi.
Hurley’s India visit included more than just the fashion throwback. She also spent time celebrating the festival of Holi in Delhi alongside friends and family, marking another return to a country she has long described as meaningful in her life.
“India has been a pivotal part of my life for over 20 years, and I cherish every moment in this magnificent country. What a magical first night back in paradise, reuniting with some of my favorite people on the planet,” she shared in a follow-up post.
The actress has often spoken about keeping special fashion pieces carefully preserved in her personal archive. Over the years, she has occasionally revisited some of those iconic looks, proving that great design can truly stand the test of time.
And judging by the reaction to her latest fashion revival, Hurley’s signature Versace moment still holds the same power it did when she first stepped onto the Met Gala carpet in 1999.
