Jennifer Lopez is turning past heartbreak into catharsis with her newly unveiled song ‘Wreckage of You’, a raw, emotionally charged reflection on her divorce from Ben Affleck. Performed for the first time at a private Los Angeles listening party on July 2nd, the song explores themes of walking away from a painful relationship and emerging stronger.

According to reports from Us Weekly, attendees described the track as “very emotional, empowering about walking away from a relationship and coming out as a stronger person.”

JLo co-wrote the pop song recently, reflecting on the difficult year she endured, one that included canceling her tour and finalizing her split from Affleck. The song marks a bold step in Lopez’s post-divorce journey, using music as a vessel for healing and reinvention.

The 55-year-old singer shocked the showbiz world when she announced she filed for divorce from the 52-year-old actor in August 2024, reportedly following their separation in April of the same year. The divorce was finalized in January and took effect in February.

The party was an intimate event that only allowed 30 lucky fans to witness the iconic singer. They were also privileged to see her sing some of her latest and unreleased material, such as “Save Me Tonight,” “Up All Night,” “Regular,” “Birthday,” and “Free.”

One attendee, Edgardo Luis Rivera, added that J.Lo wanted to “write a song about coming out of a bad situation much stronger.” She chose the word “wreck” because it meant destruction, but she was not damaged.

He continued telling the outlet, “Wreckage of You is a pop ballad that she told us she co-wrote and recorded two weeks ago. She said she was lying in bed after a long day of tour rehearsals when the idea of the song came to her. She mentioned how last year was a challenging time for her, both personally and professionally.

Rivera also said, “She had to cancel her tour and really focus on herself. Fast-forward to one year later, and she feels better and stronger than ever, so she wanted to write a song about coming out of a bad situation much stronger.”

The relationships you can have with children like that are the joy of my life. And those kids are amazing, and I’m glad that this is a movie they want to come to.”
