Tom Brady put football fans on an emotional rollercoaster after coming out of retirement just 40 days after he announced it. The seven-time Super Bowl champion officially announced his retirement on February 1st, but by March 13, he declared he was coming out of retirement to return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for his 23rd season in the league. “These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands,” he tweeted. “That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible.”

His father, Tom Brady Sr. recently blamed the media for his early retirement, telling ESPN’s Mike Greenberg, “They were announcing his retirement before he even retired.” “You know, the media made the news. He was not ready to make any decision and didn’t make any decision, but [ESPN’s Adam] Schefter and [ESPN’s Jeff] Darlington stated it as fact. You know, he hadn’t made any decision on that,” he said.

While Tom Sr. is blaming the media, the whole situation is kind of funny considering the hullabaloo over his retirement. Since his announcement, people have been joking around on Twitter with reasons they think Tom decided to get back on the field. Check out some of the funniest tweets below:
