North West is making it clear that her blue hair, grills, and piercings have nothing to do with Satan. The 13-year-old recently addressed online comments calling her style “demonic” during a TikTok Live with her mom, Kim Kardashian.
North has 21.5M followers on TikTok, where she shares videos of her dancing, lip-syncing, and of her bold fashion moments. During the stream, she pushed back on the criticism and explained why she dresses the way she does.
“Oh no, I’m not demonic, guys. Stop saying I’m demonic. No, I’m not,” North said during the livestream. “Just because I like to dress this way, don’t judge a book by its cover,” she added.
The 45-year-old billionaire was right there to back her up, suggesting that people may be reacting to North's black grills and piercings without understanding her personal style.
“Yeah, I feel like people say that because of the black grills and just, like, piercings and stuff,” the SKIMS founder said.
North wasn't convinced that explained the comments. “But I don’t know why you guys should put that with demonic because I don’t get that,” she replied.
Kim recalled that her daughter had been drawn to the idea of piercings since she was little. “When she was a baby, dropping her off at school, all she wanted was her septum pierced, and her eyebrow pierced,” Kim said. “She would do like a double brow in pre-K, going in with fake piercings.
North even had a response ready for people trying to connect her look to Kim and Ye, formerly known as Kanye West's divorce. “So you can’t be like, ‘Where did the style come from? Did the style come from the divorce?’ No, queen,” she said.
Kim pointed out how the public likes to make assumptions about their lives from the outside. “Isn’t it funny- well, not funny, but kind of crazy- when you see things and people say something about a narrative about your life and then it’s just the opposite,” she said. “They think they know and say it. It’s so crazy.”
The conversation also touched on North's first headlining performance at The Vic Theatre in Chicago in September. For the show, she wore a white gothic Lolita-inspired outfit, and she explained that the look was meant to send a message about who she is.
“I was like, if I’m gonna do my first show ever, I gotta come in like an angel in all white,” she said. “You guys know I’m not on that demon stuff. I believe in Jesus. That’s how I came to show you guys I’m actually a light, not dark.”
The comments come after North opened up about her fashion choices in an August cover story for Dazed. The aspiring musician explained that she isn't interested in following what everyone else is doing.
“Everyone’s in love with boys, vaping and doing all kinds of bad stuff,” she said. “All I want is blue hair and piercings.”
North explained that they help her feel like herself. “They just make you your full self,” she said, adding that she would love to get her bridge pierced but isn't allowed to do so.
Kim has always defended North
In the livestream, Kim was asked what she loved most about North, and her bold identity was part of the answer. "There's so much about North, but just that she's really like herself and that she's always been that and like always has told us for the longest time who she is and what she loves and what she's about," she said. "And just seeing her dress like a way she wants and all of those things. I love that about her. She's never changed."
Kim has spoken about trying to give North room to express herself while navigating the challenges of raising a child in the public eye. On the Call Her Daddy podcast in 2025, Kim described her daughter as having a “really unique style”
“She has a really unique style. She puts me on to so many brands, like she just loves what she loves. And it’s just really fun to see someone be so creative. And also knows herself so much," she said.
She has also acknowledged that parenting under constant public scrutiny can be difficult, especially when decisions that would normally happen privately become a conversation for the entire internet.
