Sofía Vergara has never been shy about her love of a good snack, and her latest late-night craving takes the idea of midnight munchies to a very Parisian level.
While spending time in Paris, the Modern Family alum gave her Instagram followers a peek at what she was eating in the middle of the night. Forget leftover pizza, chips, or a quick raid of the minibar. Vergara's 3 a.m. snack appeared to be a selection of elaborate pastries from renowned French pastry chef Cédric Grolet.
Vergara shared the treats on her Instagram Story with the playful caption, “3 a.m. little snack?”
And “little” may be underselling it.
What Was Sofía Vergara Eating at 3 A.M.?
The desserts were Cédric Grolet's signature trompe-l'œil creations, pastries designed to look remarkably like real fruits and nuts. Grolet has become especially well known for these sculpted desserts, which disguise layers of mousse, praline, caramel, fruit and other fillings beneath incredibly realistic exteriors.
The chef's Le Meurice boutique in Paris is dedicated to his famous “Fruits” universe. According to Grolet's official site, the pastries are inspired by seasonal ingredients and individually imagined and sculpted to capture the appearance and flavor of the fruit or ingredient they represent.
So while Vergara's snack may have looked like something picked up from a fruit bowl, biting into one is an entirely different experience.
One of Grolet's current hazelnut creations, for example, features hazelnut spread, vanilla caramel, crunchy hazelnut praline with fleur de sel and hazelnut milk mousse. That is decidedly more glamorous than the average 3 a.m. granola bar.
Sofía Vergara’s Paris Trip Included Plenty of Food and Fashion
The late-night dessert stop fit neatly into Vergara's Paris itinerary. The actress had been sharing glimpses from her hotel and an evening out with friends. Before dinner, she joked about getting hungry, according to coverage of her Instagram Stories. She later headed to a candlelit dinner and showed off her evening look.
For the outing, Vergara wore a pink-toned leopard-print Roberto Cavalli halterneck dress featuring an open back and plunging keyhole neckline. She paired the statement dress with a burgundy bag, gold jewelry, and a deep maroon manicure.
Then came the pastries.
Sofía Vergara Has Never Hidden Her Sweet Tooth
Anyone who has followed Vergara for years knows the 3 a.m. pastry moment isn't entirely surprising. Food, desserts, and snacks have made frequent appearances on her social media over the years.
Past posts have shown her enjoying everything from cakes and cookies to ice cream and other treats.
That makes her Paris snack less of an unexpected indulgence. The difference this time is the setting.
A 3 a.m. craving is relatable. A 3 a.m. craving involving intricate French pastries that could easily be mistaken for actual fruit? That's where Vergara raises the bar.
