Sofia Vergara appears to have shared a pointed message about narcissistic behavior shortly after her ex-husband, Joe Manganiello, made a series of personal revelations about their marriage.
Vergara Shares Message About Narcissistic Behavior
On Friday, the 54-year-old actress reposted a message on Instagram Stories that criticized men displaying narcissistic tendencies.
The post included a note stating that no matter how much someone does for a narcissist, their efforts will never be enough. It also suggested that such individuals may grow resentful toward those who support them and attempt to portray themselves as victims by making others look like the villains.

The post surfaced just days after Manganiello, 49, made allegations about his experience during their marriage. He claimed that Vergara refused to hug him while he was struggling with a serious autoimmune illness that reportedly left him battling suicidal thoughts.
Manganiello Details His Health Struggles in New Memoir
Manganiello is set to reveal more about the breakdown of his marriage to Vergara in his upcoming memoir, Bloodlines, scheduled for release on October 13.
According to an excerpt obtained by People, the actor said their relationship became emotionally distant as his health deteriorated. He described their marriage as having become “devoid of any emotionality whatsoever.”
Manganiello wrote that his medical problems began shortly after the couple married in 2015. He reportedly suffered from severe abdominal pain that made walking difficult, alongside intestinal ulcers, recurring fevers, blistering skin rashes, headaches and exhaustion. He also experienced rectal bleeding.
© NBCHis condition resulted in a weight loss of approximately 60 pounds and emergency surgery in 2016, during which surgeons removed part of his intestines. The procedure left him relying on an ostomy bag.
The actor said conventional pain medications commonly used to treat Crohn’s disease and colitis were ineffective. As a result, he turned to hydrocodone tablets, fentanyl patches and marijuana to manage his symptoms, despite having maintained sobriety for 13 years.
Actor Claims Vergara Withheld Physical Affection
In his memoir, Manganiello also alleged that Vergara refused to embrace him, even when he pleaded with her for physical comfort while dealing with his illness.
His account offers a different perspective on the difficulties the couple experienced during their marriage, particularly as he faced significant medical challenges.
The allegations have emerged as the former couple’s differing explanations for their separation have once again drawn attention.
Disagreement Over Having Children Contributed to Divorce Debate
Manganiello also challenged Vergara’s previous explanation that their marriage ended because he wanted children while she did not.
In January 2024, the Colombian-born actress told Spanish publication El País that their differing views on parenthood were a major factor in their split.
“My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids and I didn’t want to be an old mom,” Vergara said.
She added that she did not believe having a child at her stage of life would be fair to the baby, while emphasizing that she respected other people who chose to become parents later in life.
Vergara also spoke about her son, Manolo, whom she shares with her first husband, Joe Gonzalez, her high school sweetheart.
Explaining her outlook on the future, she said she had become a mother at 19 and was now ready to become a grandmother rather than raise another child. She added that if she entered a new relationship, she would prefer a partner who already had children.
Manganiello, however, offered a different account in his memoir. He claimed that his health problems ultimately led him to abandon the idea of starting a family with Vergara.
According to his account, the couple had unsuccessful attempts at in vitro fertilization (IVF) and considered using egg donors. He said he did not want to risk dying and leaving Vergara to raise a child who was not biologically hers.
Former Couple Announced Split in July 2023
Vergara and Manganiello announced their separation in July 2023, ending their seven-year marriage.
In a joint statement shared with Page Six, the former couple said they had made the difficult decision to divorce and asked the public to respect their privacy as they adjusted to a new chapter in their lives.
