Jennifer Lopez is going viral, but not because of anything she's done. Over the past day, a mugshot of a woman from Minnesota has gone viral, leaving the internet shocked due to her unbelievable resemblance to Lopez.
Cyrena Anne Quast, 35, was arrested in August after being accused of stealing power tool batteries that amounted to over $500.
But what prompted the photo to go viral was her undeniable resemblance to Lopez. "For a moment I thought it was jlo lmao," wrote a user.
"There's a glitch in the matrix lol," wrote a second person.
"In prison she's known as Jenny from D-Block!," added a third.
The mugshot was shared by the Wright County Sheriff's Office, with outlets like the Daily Mail sharing that Quast has been arrested numerous times in the past.
What actually happened
According to the criminal complaint, Quast was taken into custody on August 30 after allegedly walking out of a Monticello store with two double packs of power tool batteries worth around $580. An employee reportedly recognized her from an alleged theft days earlier, and she was booked on a gross misdemeanor theft charge. She admitted to the theft, according to online arrest records, and was released the following day.
But none of that stopped the jokes from piling up. Quast "could be one of those guys who impersonate Elvis and Michael Jackson but as Jlo," wrote a user. "The Jenny from the block she's been singing about," wrote someone else.
One fan called for a paternity-test-style showdown, joking, "JENNIFER COME GET YOUR SISTER AND GET THAT DNA TEST DONE!"
While there's obviously no family connection between Quast and Lopez, the case has taken on a life of its own on social media, going viral internationally.
Reports also indicate the total value of Quast's alleged thefts could reach closer to $900, which may bump her charge up to something more serious than the original gross misdemeanor. Her case is still making its way through the courts.
The real JLO has yet to comment publicly on her newfound doppelganger.
