North West's dark new music video sparks concern after tour cancellation

At just 13 years old, North West is taking an unexpectedly dark creative turn. The daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West has released the music video for her latest track, "Aishite," a horror-inspired visual that explores themes of betrayal, isolation, and emotional pain. The release comes only days after her planned 14-date Kimokawaii Tour with rapper Molly Santana was abruptly canceled before its scheduled kickoff. 

The combination of the eerie visuals, emotionally charged lyrics, and sudden tour cancellation has fueled conversation among fans, many of whom have expressed concern while others have praised North's artistic vision.

North West's 'Aishite' music video embraces horror-inspired visuals

The new music video presents a dramatically different side of North's evolving musical identity.

Set inside eerie locations including an abandoned-looking school and an arcade, the video features the young performer wearing icy blue pigtails, dramatic skull-inspired makeup, black teeth, facial jewelry, and gothic-inspired outfits. The unsettling imagery matches the song's emotional tone, creating a cinematic horror aesthetic throughout the video. 

The song's title, "Aishite," translates from Japanese as "love me," reinforcing the emotional themes woven into the track. 

Lyrics about betrayal and being "used" draw attention

While the visuals immediately caught viewers' attention, it was the lyrics that generated the strongest reactions.

Throughout the song, North raps and sings about feeling abandoned, betrayed, and unable to trust those around her. Among the lyrics are references to "everyone betrays me," struggling to escape people chasing her, and feeling as though others continue to use her. She also describes finding it difficult to let anyone in emotionally while suggesting that the suffering continues. 

Because of the song's emotional subject matter, many viewers interpreted the lyrics as unusually mature for a 13-year-old artist.

Fans react with concern over the emotional themes

The release quickly prompted discussion across social media.

Some fans praised the teenager for experimenting with darker storytelling and artistic expression, while others questioned whether the lyrics reflected genuine emotions or simply fit the song's horror-inspired concept.

Comments on the video included viewers saying they hoped the teenager had a strong support system, while others described the lyrics as emotionally heavy and surprisingly vulnerable for such a young performer. “This felt spiritually heavy in a way that didn't sit right with me. This sounds like a panic attack with a beat,” a person wrote. “I like it, but can I just say that while we are bopping our heads, we should listen to the lyrics of what she's saying. She is crying out, don't fail her like we've failed so many others,” another added.

A third chimed in saying: “This song is really sad. I was depressed at 13 too , hopefully North gets the love and support she needs from somewhere.”

“Okay, I had to pause just to say this,” a fourth person began. “Y'all always come up with the ‘she/he never spoke up. How was we supposed to know?’ This is her speaking up.  I know her family or she might downplay this as ‘it's just a creative choice, art ......blah blah blah.’ That's not true. A 13 year old won't just up and write dark lyrics like this with no reason behind it. We know what her family's like........I believe anything and everything said about them and this lyrics too.  This is an outward cry for help, she's out of coping mechanisms and the only person whom could understand and help her is being actively, physically torn away from her .....Ye. She's just 13!!!!”

There is no public evidence that the lyrics are autobiographical, and neither North nor her family has suggested that the song reflects her personal experiences.

Music video arrives after North West canceled her first headline tour

The timing of the release has added another layer to the conversation. Less than a week before it was scheduled to begin, North's Kimokawaii Tour with rapper Molly Santana was canceled.

North shared a message with fans expressing disappointment over the cancellation, saying she had been excited to perform and promising supporters that she would have "something special" for them in the future. Molly Santana also apologized to ticket holders, thanking fans for their support and promising to make it up to them.

Reports suggested the cancellation may have been influenced by multiple factors, including scheduling conflicts, North's desire to continue working on music, and other logistical considerations. However, no official explanation has been fully confirmed, as informed by The Scottish Sun.

North West continues building her music career

Despite the canceled tour, North's music career continues to expand.

She released her debut EP, N0rth4evr, earlier this year and has steadily built her résumé through collaborations and live performances. She previously appeared alongside her father on the song "Talking / Once Again," performed at Rolling Loud Miami, and contributed to FKA twigs' music before stepping further into her own solo career.

Kim Kardashian has publicly supported North's musical ambitions, previously saying her daughter enjoys making music because she genuinely loves the creative process and isn't overly concerned with outside opinions.
