North West is continuing to show off her unique style. The 13-year-old has been rocking a long bright turquoise-blue look for months, but she's decided to switch things up with a blunt bob with bangs.
The teenager debuted the look this week on TikTok, where she has 21.4million followers. The singer has uploaded several videos dancing in her signature ALT style with a black-and-white striped mock-neck long-sleeve top with a silver graphic across the front, a black pleated mini skirt, and chunky black knee-high lace-up boots with white laces.
It's a punk-meets-Harajuku aesthetic that kids her age have been embracing.
For some reason, North's parents have allowed her to have the comments turned on her video, which results in thousands of questionable and downright creepy comments from strangers. Whether it's about her appearance or people saying "Sorry" to Kanye, everyone seems to have something to say about the teenager.
For the past year, North has been wearing faux face piercings, grillz, fake tattoos, bleached brows, and colorful wigs. She also has real hand piercings that continuously send the internet into a frenzy.
At one point, she directly addressed critics through TikTok, lip-syncing to the viral soundbite, “Why are you crying? How old are you? Just pull it together,” alongside text reading, “This is for everyone that’s mad over a finger piercing.”
While it's easy for adults to judge and criticize a young, rich, black child, there have been people coming to her defense.
On Wednesday’s episode of The View, the hosts discussed the criticism with Whoopi Goldberg exclaiming, “If [Kim Kardashian] and her kid decided that’s okay, why do you care?” “Leave this child alone. " What are your children doing?”
Her mom, Kim Kardashian, has also repeatedly defended North’s style, explaining that her daughter has always had a strong sense of individuality. "I have pictures of her in pre-K where she'd come with a fake septum ring, green braids and pink braids," Kardashian said in a resurfaced interview. The Skims founder has also made it clear she will always let North express herself. "She really is who she is and always has been that girl," she said. "Unapologetic."
Even Kanye and Bianca Censori have seemingly embraced North’s fascination with dermal-inspired looks. Earlier this year, the pair attended North’s Complex pop-up event celebrating her debut EP, N0rth4evr, while both appeared to wear facial dermal piercings themselves.
Now that North is 13, the criticism is sure to continue as one of the most famous kids grows up in front of the public.
