Jennifer Garner and John Miller are keeping things low-key. The actress was photographed enjoying a rare date night with her longtime boyfriend in Santa Monica, California, on August 2, with the notoriously private couple appearing relaxed and in good spirits as they headed out for dinner.
Garner, 54, smiled and laughed alongside Miller during the outing, at one point affectionately placing a hand on his back as they walked together.
The sighting is particularly notable given how rarely the pair are photographed during their private time together.
Jennifer's laid-back date-night style:
Rather than dressing up for the romantic evening, the '13 Going on 30' star leaned into the understated California style that has become one of her signatures.
Garner wore a soft, light-colored crewneck sweatshirt with cropped ivory jeans and gray-and-white sneakers, creating an easy monochromatic look perfect for a casual summer evening by the coast.
Her beauty look was equally effortless. The actress appeared to keep her makeup minimal and wore her brunette hair partially pulled back, with loose lengths falling naturally over her shoulders.
The unfussy hairstyle and fresh-faced makeup complemented the relaxed nature of the outing.
Miller coordinated with Garner's casual aesthetic in a charcoal button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled to his elbows, light-wash jeans and brown boots.
A romance that has largely stayed out of the spotlight:
Garner and Miller were first romantically linked in 2018, the same year her divorce from Ben Affleck was finalized.
The businessman has remained considerably outside the Hollywood spotlight throughout their relationship. He is chairman of CaliGroup and CEO of PopID.
The couple briefly separated in 2020 before rekindling their romance the following year. Since then, they have continued to maintain an unusually private relationship, rarely making public appearances as a couple and generally keeping details of their romance to themselves.
Their latest outing comes after a source told People in 2025 that Garner and Miller had "hit a stride as a couple" and had become more connected, with Miller reportedly comfortable with Garner's close co-parenting relationship with Affleck.
By July 2025, another source described their relationship as "better than ever," according to the publication, with Miller increasingly integrated into Garner's family life.
The new Santa Monica photos certainly capture that sense of ease. Far removed from a Hollywood red carpet, Garner and Miller looked comfortable and affectionate as they shared a simple night out together.
