Jessica Simpson is celebrating. The pop star is turning 46 and, to memorialize the occasion, is spending her time sunbathing and showing off her impressive tan.
In a post shared on Instagram, Simpson celebrated her special day. "46," she captioned, adding some star emojis. "July 10/26."
The photo is a selfie, showing Simpson looking at the camera from under her sunglasses, wearing a triangle-shaped polka-dot bikini. She looked tan and golden, lying on top of a white beach towel as she enjoyed her time spent under the sun.
Simpson completed the summery look with some necklaces and bracelets.
Her birthday post arrives after her U.S. promotion tour for the release of her EPs "Nashville Canyon Pt. 1" and "Nashville Canyon Pt. 2," which came out earlier this year. The songs mark her first singles in years. Her last album, "Happy Christmas," came out in 2010.
Simpson's musical comeback
As she's gone on tours and returned to performing, Simpson has opened up about her years away from the spotlight and from the music industry.
"Writing music has become a beautiful therapeutic thing for me that I didn't know was so natural, but it's because I haven't done it in so long," she said in an interview with Footwear News in 2023.
"It's just nice to know that I'm meeting myself back in this place, as a woman, and after going through everything that I've been through in my life."
On her Instagram, Simpson has shared how special it's been to perform again. "As I go through my life and my heart gets broken inside of my safe places, I have learned to cling to these words that have become somewhat of a daily affirmation 'Home is a feeling, not a place'..." she wrote. "Not only do I say these words to myself, I sing these words in the song, Fade, off of Nashville Canyon part 2."
"After all that I have chosen to pull myself through with as much strength, courage, confidence and compassion possible, I am able to free myself from the pain of disappointment every single time I am blessed to be able to take the stage. I am so very grateful for the feeling of home on the stage," she wrote.
Earlier this year, Simpson announced her split from Eric Johnson, her husband of 10 years. They share three kids: Maxwell Drew, 14, Birdie Mae, 7, and Ace Knute, 12.
