Rosie O'Donnell is one of the few celebrities who has been refreshingly open about her weight loss and cosmetic procedures. The comedian revealed on TikTok in January 2023 that she began taking GLP-1s after her doctor prescribed them for her type 2 diabetes, and after shedding some weight, she treated herself to a facelift.

In a cover story with PEOPLE, O'Donnell opened up about her nearly 60-pound weight loss, saying Mounjaro changed her life and "quieted the food noise." The 64-year-old explained she's had trouble with her weight her whole life and knows all too well "the shame and humiliation dealt to people who are overweight."

O'Donnell even shared a Halloween anecdote, saying her kids would come home from trick-or-treating with pillowcases full of candy and hide it. "Smart children," she quipped. "I’d wake up at 3 in the morning and go, 'There’s a Nestlé’s Crunch bar somewhere.' I couldn’t help myself."

Her struggles with her body image go back to her League of Their Own days, and according to O'Donnell, the film's late director Penny Marshall said something that still haunts her - “'Rosie, I want you to lose 20 lbs.'”

O'donne'l said she's the same weight she was when she filmed the movie, adding, "But I feel much healthier, more powerful in my own physicality."

After losing the weight, O'Donnell said she had a lot of excess skin around her chin that made her "look sad." She said she grappled with the decision for six months "because as a feminist I always felt this is the male gaze and not anything I believe in."

She decided to get it done after realizing "the real power of feminism [is] to decide what we want to do with our bodies and when."

The Flinstones star knew she was going to be honest about the facelift, but she waited until people noticed. "I didn’t make it public until everyone started saying, 'You look so much better. What are you doing?'" she explained. "I didn’t want to be one of those people who says, 'Oh, nothing.'"

The Harriet the Spy star went on to reveal that it cost $90,000, admitting she was worried about the cost at first. "I don’t like to waste money," she said, "I would never spend that on a car."

Rosie's ready for a relationship

Now that her youngest child, Clay, is 13, and with a lifted face and some extra confidence in her skin, O'Donnell admitted she's interested in a relationship. "I would like to be in love again," she admitted.

But if you're trying to shoot your shot with O'Donnell, you're going to have to make it obvious. "I’m one of those people—I think everyone just wants to be friends," she explained. "If you don’t have a sign that says 'I’m trying to date you,' I totally don’t get it. I have to turn that part of my body or my brain on. "
