The 2026 FIFA World Cup Final at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, drew major figures from sports and Hollywood. Among them were Matt Damon and his Argentine-born wife, Luciana Barroso.

Luciana wore Argentina’s national colors from head to toe, while Matt echoed her palette in a relaxed blue outfit. Born in Argentina, she was working in Miami when she met Matt in 2003. The couple married two years later and now share a close-knit family with their four daughters.

Her blue-and-white look carried more than match-day meaning. It also reflected the Argentine roots, family ties, and traditions that remain part of their life together. With Matt dressed in coordinating shades, the couple turned a high-profile appearance into something personal.

Luciana made her allegiance clear in a blue-and-white ensemble inspired by Argentina’s national team. She wore an Argentina top in the country’s signature sky-blue-and-white stripes, styling it at the waist for a cropped effect. White jeans gave the sporty piece a polished finish. A blue bucket hat, a coordinating scarf, sunglasses, and sneakers completed the match-day look.

The white denim gave the sporty top a cleaner finish. Her bucket hat and scarf kept the outfit firmly connected to Argentina and the energy of the match.

A Shared Love of Sports

Damon has also spoken about how sports help him connect with Luciana’s relatives in Argentina. Their shared devotion to their teams gives them common ground, even when they come from different backgrounds. For Damon, that intensity is part of what makes sports meaningful. Meeting someone who cares just as deeply about a team can create an immediate sense of familiarity.

A World Cup Outing During a Major Film Weekend

The couple’s World Cup appearance came during the opening weekend of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, in which Matt stars as Odysseus. The outing also followed a recent interview with PEOPLE, where he spoke warmly about his marriage to Luciana, calling it “the greatest thing in my life.”

A Personal Tribute to Argentina

Spain defeated Argentina 1–0 after extra time, with Ferran Torres scoring the decisive goal in the 106th minute. Although the result favored Spain, Luciana’s blue-and-white look made her allegiance unmistakable. It was a personal tribute to Argentina on the sport’s biggest night.
