Angelina Jolie is ready for a new start. The actress and filmmaker recently celebrated the 18th birthdays of her youngest kids, twins Knox and Vivienne. It marks the end of a charged chapter for Jolie, who's ready to embrace more freedom in this stage of her life.
According to an insider, Jolie is ready to travel more. “She’s been talking about leaving Los Angeles for years,” said an insider to PEOPLE. “She’s happy to have more freedom and flexibility in her life.”
“The kids have always been her priority,” they concluded.
As reported by numerous outlets in the past, Jolie has been immersed in a complex divorce from Brad Pitt, keeping her rooted in the US and in Los Angeles.
"When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety. I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be … that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here," she said of her relationship to LA to The Hollywood Reporter.
In that same interview, Jolie said she hoped to travel with her children. "I'll spend time visiting my family members wherever they may be in the world."
According to the source that spoke to PEOPLE, Jolie “has wanted them to experience the world and she’s excited that they can all do more of that together now. She’s ready for it.”
A closer look at Jolie's family
Jolie is the mother of six kids, whom she shares with Brad Pitt. Their family is made up of Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 20, and the 18-year-old twins. In May of this year, Jolie listed her home for sale in Los Angeles, marking the end of an era.
She and Pitt concluded their divorce in 2024. Despite that, the two have been in a legal battle since 2022 over the Chateau Miraval estate. According to numerous sources, Pitt has almost no contact with his kids. As the kids have grown up, most have dropped the Pitt surname entirely, retaining their mother's name as they've entered their adult lives.
