North West may be eyeballing her next piercing, this time on her wrist. Over the weekend, the 12-year-old daughter of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian once again sparked debate over body modifications after posting new selfies showing what appeared to be metallic studs running across her wrist and hands.
While some fans immediately assumed North had added even more dermal piercings to her growing collection, representatives later confirmed to The Daily Mail that the wrist detail was actually just a sticker and not a real piercing.
Still, if there’s one thing North has made clear over the last year, it’s that she loves pushing boundaries with fashion and beauty. Rocking her now-signature electric blue hair, the preteen posed in an oversized charcoal grey outfit styled with furry boots, chunky layered silver chains, and a skull-and-crossbones pendant.
The accessories covering her fingers and hands instantly became the focal point of the photos, especially given the public conversation already surrounding North’s increasingly bold style choices.
She first caused controversy back in 2025 when she appeared to debut a dermal piercing on her finger during a family vacation in Italy. The piercing, which looked like two metallic studs sitting beneath the knuckle, quickly divided the internet, with critics arguing she was too young for such an extreme body modification. But North never seemed particularly bothered by the backlash. If anything, the scrutiny appeared to fuel her experimental era even more.
Over the following months, she continued posting selfies featuring faux face piercings, grillz, fake tattoos, bleached brows, and additional hand jewelry that blurred the line between real and temporary modifications.
At one point, she directly addressed critics through TikTok, lip-syncing to the viral soundbite, “Why are you crying? How old are you? Just pull it together,” alongside text reading, “This is for everyone that’s mad over a finger piercing.”
Her parents have also publicly supported her creativity despite the online debate. Kim has repeatedly defended North’s style experimentation, explaining that her daughter simply has a strong sense of individuality.
Speaking about North’s fashion instincts, Kardashian previously shared, “She has a really unique style. She puts me on to so many brands. She just loves what she loves.” The SKIMS founder has also admitted parenting under a microscope comes with constant criticism, saying sometimes mistakes happen publicly while parents are “learning at the same time.”
Even Kanye and Bianca Censori have seemingly embraced North’s fascination with dermal-inspired looks. Earlier this year, the pair attended North’s Complex pop-up event celebrating her debut EP, N0rth4evr, while both appeared to wear facial dermal piercings themselves.
Censori leaned into her signature architectural styling with exaggerated proportions and towering platform boots, while Kanye sported a cheek dermal that fans quickly linked back to North’s aesthetic influence.
And North’s obsession with piercings has even started bleeding into her music. On her track "Piercing on My Hand (Ye Version)," a collaboration with her father, she raps, “Piercing on my hand, the other holding bands,” before joking about wanting “more piercings and tats” alongside references to blue hair and fame. The song arrived shortly after the release of her debut EP, where the 12-year-old took full production credit across all six tracks, further proving she’s carving out an artistic identity entirely her own.
Now with plans to perform at Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash alongside names like Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert, Skrillex, and Chief Keef, North is stepping even further into the spotlight. And whether the wrist piercing is real or not, one thing is becoming increasingly obvious - North knows exactly how to get people talking.
