When Colapinto Denied Being in a Relationship

Just under a month ago, the Formula 1 driver was asked about his relationship status during an interview with ESPN journalist Juan Fossaroli as he arrived at the Japanese Grand Prix at the famous Suzuka Circuit. At the time, the 22-year-old played it cool: “I took it easy, had a quiet weekend, checked out some places,” he said, referring to a break in the racing calendar that had already sparked speculation.

Fossaroli, who shares a friendly rapport with the driver, pressed further: “A girlfriend? Haven’t met anyone yet?” Laughing, Colapinto shot back immediately: “I’m very single, still!”

The Clues on Social Media

The rumors had been circulating for weeks, but neither Colapinto nor Reficco had confirmed anything until now. Reficco, who was born in the U.S. but has deep Argentine roots, built much of her career in Argentina. It was Colapinto’s official account that ultimately put the speculation to rest, sharing behind-the-scenes footage from Miami that showed the pair exchanging a kiss and affectionate moments.

Reficco’s name had already started circulating among Argentine fans when Colapinto posted a photo of her holding his Formula 1 helmet. Still, neither addressed it publicly, an entirely reasonable choice when it comes to their personal lives.

Their online interactions also offered subtle clues. Early on, neither confirmed the connection outright, but fans noticed matching rings in separate posts, along with one telling detail: days earlier, Reficco had written something strikingly similar to Colapinto’s caption, “The demanding life of a high-performance athlete.”

The confirmation came shortly after in a post that racked up more than 500,000 likes. “WHAT COULD I POSSIBLY KNOWWWW,” the actress commented.

Who Is Maia Reficco?

Maia Reficco has been building her career internationally for years. Born in Boston on July 14, 2000, and raised in Argentina from the age of four, she grew up immersed in music.

The daughter of Katie Viqueira, a renowned tango singer and vocal coach to major artists, Reficco discovered her passion early on, though her path was anything but easy. Before landing her first major role, she went through more than 300 auditions, a testament to both the industry’s demands and her persistence.

Much like the 22-year-old driver’s globetrotting life in Formula 1, 25-year-old Reficco also travels extensively for her acting career. Best known for her role in Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, she wrapped filming in the U.S. this February on Baton, directed by Danny Ramírez, whose credits include Top Gun: Maverick and Captain America: Brave New World.

Last September, Reficco also shot The Last Sunrise in Mallorca with Eva Longoria, Amazon MGM’s adaptation of Anna Todd’s bestselling romance novel.

In recent years, she has solidified her presence across international TV and music, emerging as one of Argentina’s most globally promising young talents.

With the relationship now confirmed by Colapinto, the couple is set to shine both in and beyond their respective worlds.
