Antonio Banderas has shared a photo on social media that stopped his followers in their tracks. The image celebrates a family reunion, showing his daughter Stella, her husband Alex Gruszynski, and his ex-wife Melanie Griffith, serving as a snapshot of a modern family that has weathered some ups and downs.
The photo showed the group smiling and laughing together, with Banderas wearing an all-white look made up of pants and a t-shirt, and Griffith opting for a denim jacket and jeans. In between them sits Stella, cuddled up to her parents.
"A lovely and fun moment yesterday in Los Angeles with my son-in-law Alex, my daughter Stella, and my ex-wife and lifelong friend, Melanie," Banderas captioned the post.
The warmth of the moment struck a chord with his followers, who responded with enthusiasm and admiration at the display of post-divorce harmony that Banderas and Griffith are known for.
Two decades, and still friends
Banderas and Griffith were together for two decades, becoming one of Hollywood's most high-profile couples. The pair split up in 2014, surprising the world. Since they've spoken openly about their evolving dynamics, revealing that while they're not together anymore, they're still a part of each other's lives.
The pair welcomed their only daughter together in 1996. Throughout their marriage, Banderas became a part of Griffith's family, being a stepdad to her children, Dakota Johnson and Alexander Bauer.
Stella's stunning Spanish wedding
Last year, Stella married her lifelong partner, Alex. The pair hosted a ceremony in Spain, at the historic Abadía de Retuerta monastery in Valladolid, in October.
The event was a family affair, hosted in a place and featuring elements that had a great personal connection to the family. In exclusive details revealed to HOLA!, Stella walked down the aisle on her father's arm, happy and emotional, as a piece composed for the occasion by her great-uncle filled the chapel. The music was performed by guitarists from the Teatro del Soho, Antonio Banderas's cultural project in Málaga. The ceremony closed with the Beatles' "Here, There and Everywhere," a romantic and timeless touch.
"She's so happy as is the entire family and friends from the US, who've traveled all the way to be here, and also from Malaga. It has been very beautiful, very exciting, and we're all very happy," he said. "We cried. Because they've known each other since they were four years old. It's a very long relationship, deep down, it's a 25-year relationship."
