Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise have each other's backs. In photos shared earlier this week, Suri was spotted back in New York City, spending time with her mom and walking through the streets she's known her whole life.
The images show a downcast Suri sitting down on a building stoop. Moments later, the photo agency reported that Katie arrived in an Uber, with her sitting beside her daughter. The two reportedly had a long conversation, with Suri at one point leaving.
Shortly after, Suri came back and sat with her mother, with the two walking down the block to purchase some pastries.
Suri looked comfortable for the occasion, wearing navy sweatpants that she paired with a green puffer jacket and brown clogs. She was seen carrying a drink and some pastries in a brown bag. Katie wore a striped orange and brown sweater that she paired with cropped navy pants, flat shoes, sunglasses, and a red purse.
Suri's life as a college student
Suri is currently enrolled in Carnegie Mellon University. Even though she resides in Pittsburgh for the majority of the year for school, she's often photographed in New York, doing activities alone and with her mother.
Suri spent her summer break in the city, often spotted on outings with Katie. In August, she was photographed on the set of "Happy Hours," her mother's upcoming movie co-starring Joshua Jackson.
According to The Daily Mail, Suri has an interest in studying fashion and seems to be doing well in school, having made good friends. "She is a smart girl, and she is turning into a very intelligent mature young woman," said an insider. "She has a very close group of loyal friends, and she knows exactly where she comes from."
While it's unclear what career path she wants to pursue, Suri is clearly very artistic, having starred in various school acting and musical productions, including a play of "The Addams Family," where she played Morticia Addams.
She's also flexed her musical skills in her mother's work, performing a rendition of the song "Blue Moon," which was featured in Katie's film "Alone Together."
"Well, I always want the highest level of talent, so I asked her," said Katie in an interview with Yahoo Entertainment. "She's very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it, and I let her do her thing. That's the way I direct in general. It's like, 'This is what I think we all want and then go do your thing.'"
