Kris Jenner may be the ultimate momager when it comes to building empires, but her matchmaking skills? That’s a whole different story, and one Kim Kardashian just proved with a hilarious confession.

During her appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on Wednesday, Sept. 24, Kim, 44, spilled about the time her mom set her up on a blind date years before "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" even hit the air. The twist is that Kris told Kim it was a job interview.

The date was with a TV executive, but Kim didn’t know that. “She told me it was a job interview, but she told him it was a date,” Kim recalled. She came prepared—résumé in hand—ready to talk career moves. “I was talking about what I wanted to do, and I had a résumé on me!” Kim said, as Fallon collapsed into laughter. Five minutes in, the SKIMS founder realized what was really happening. “I was like, ‘I’m going to kill you,’” she joked, looking over at Kris, who was sitting in the audience.

No Sparks, No Second Date

When Fallon asked if there was any chemistry, Kim didn’t hesitate: “No.” She later revealed that the poor guy didn’t even figure it out until years later. Kris, however, jumped in to defend her choice. Without dropping his name, she teased that he was an Emmy Award-winning exec who even quipped afterward: “Would it help if I brought my Emmy with me?”

Khloé Kardashian, seated next to their mom, immediately groaned, “That’s a red flag.” Kim added dryly, “So you wanted to set me up with someone who thought an Emmy was going to seal the deal? Hmm.”

Kris tried to soften the story, insisting, “He was kidding.” But when Fallon pressed her on whether she’s still friends with the man, Kris quickly replied, “I plead the fifth.”

The Kardashian Dating Track Record

While Kris’s attempt at matchmaking flopped, Kim’s dating history has been anything but quiet. She’s been married three times: first to Damon Thomas in 2000 (divorced in 2004), then to Kris Humphries in 2011 (the infamous 72-day marriage), and later to Kanye West, with whom she shares four children—North, 12, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6.

Post-divorce, Kim’s love life has continued to grab headlines, with high-profile romances including comedian Pete Davidson and NFL star Odell Beckham Jr. Despite the ups and downs, Kim has made it clear she’s still a romantic at heart.

On Jay Shetty’s "On Purpose" podcast in 2023, she admitted, “I’ll always be a hopeless romantic. I definitely love sharing my life with someone and love creating a life with someone,” before adding that she’s “not lonely.”
