Who did Malia Obama spend Valentine's Day with?

Valentine's Day was on Friday, and for those who celebrate, the holiday of love often means romantic dinners, sweet outings, and quality time with a partner. But while some single people spend the day solo, Malia Obama spent it with friends.

The former first daughter was spotted at Great White Restaurant in Los Angeles, having dinner with her friends Ames and Ruby, who are a couple, per Grosby Group.

 Malia seemed perfectly content third-wheeling, laughing along with them at their booth.

Of course, the 26-year-old's love life has been a topic of interest over the years. She was previously linked to Rory Farquharson, her British former Harvard classmate, whom she reportedly dated for several years while in college. 

The two were first spotted together in 2017, and at one point, Barack Obama even mentioned that Rory spent a few weeks with the family during the pandemic.

However, their relationship seemed to fizzle out, and by 2022, Malia was rumored to be dating music producer Dawit Eklund, with whom she was spotted on multiple outings, then a rapper named Anime in 2023. 

In October 2024, she was seen on a lunch date with Greek journalist and photographer Achilleas Ambatzidis. Where they stand now is unclear, but whether she’s dating or not, Malia seems to enjoy her independence, balancing friendships, work, and life in Los Angeles.

As for her sister, Sasha Obama, 23, she was linked to the 24-year-old son of Ray actor Clifton Powell in November 2024.

All grown up

At 26 and 23, the former first daughters have grown up right before our eyes. And while it might be tough watching your daughters start dating, Michelle Obama shared in a 2022 interview that former president  Barack was handling it well. "He is good with it," she said. "Look, they are 24 and 21 [at that time]. They were in high school. They went to prom. They've lived life. And he's learned how to be a concerned Black father, but not crazy."

As for Michelle, she’s all for them figuring out what does and doesn’t work. "I think it's wonderful," she said. "I want them to know what they want and who they are in a relationship. And that takes trying on some people."
