We’ve already scouted the hairstyles set to dominate guest lists this season, but Demi Moore just raised the bar. Attending the Landman Emmy FYC event in Los Angeles, the actress proved she’s still the queen of beauty hacks. Her secret? A high-tension ponytail designed to sharpen the jawline and instantly mask signs of fatigue.

The All-Terrain Ponytail with a "Glow Effect"

It completely clears the face, "pulls" the gaze to hide tiredness, mimicking the effect of a lifting, and stylizes the neckline. Demi's high, sleek ponytail works as an authentic beauty treatment. This is achieved by gathering all the hair back with a polished finish using wax or a setting product and positioning the ponytail along an imaginary ascending line starting from the temples.

"It highlights features, cheekbones, eyes, and the jawline. Being a high and polished ponytail, it gives a youthful and elegant appearance, pulling the skin slightly upward, which makes the face and neck look firmer," explains hair stylist Jose Ma Mena for VeraCruzHair.

The look, which model Bella Hadid has confessed to being a die-hard fan of on several occasions, is the go-to for celebrities to project a sophisticated, radiant image on the red carpet. "The benefits of this polished-looking hairstyle are that it gives a sleek image, is very comfortable, keeps hair out of the face, and can be used for both day and night," adds Mena.

The Secret is in the Waves

The wavy finish is another of its strengths because it transforms a functional, modern ponytail into the perfect "wedding guest" hairstyle. To shape the hair, Alba Aliaga, a hair stylist at Good Hair Daily, best known as ghd, provides two options:

  • Using a Styler (Flat Iron): "We always achieve a more compact finish and, at the same time, reduce volume since the hair passes between two plates."
  • Using Curling Tongs or Wands: "These respect the natural volume and maintain the hair's own texture."

For those replicating the look at home, the expert has specific advice: "On short hair, I consider the styler easier, as with a curler or wand, the hair has to be wrapped with the fingers, and if the hair is too short, it may not reach or might escape." On midi-length hair, both options are suitable.

In the Demi Moore case and her "maxi-mane," it is recommended to use tongs or a curler. "This is because the strand of hair is what is wrapped; with a styler, the tool itself is what slides, which can be more complicated when there is a lot of length," points out Aliaga, who suggests tools like the ghd Chronos (medium size) or the Max (wider size).

This is a red-carpet look that is also suitable for daily wear to clear the face, open up the gaze, hide fatigue, and achieve the "glow effect" of a rejuvenating treatment.
