Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra brought a glamorous touch to a historic royal evening, joining her father, King Haakon, and grandmother, Queen Sonja, for Norway’s annual parliamentary dinner.
With an elegantly draped gown and a sparkling amethyst tiara, the young royal combined contemporary eveningwear with jewels closely associated with her family.
Held at the Royal Palace in Oslo on Thursday, October 22, the gathering welcomed parliamentary representatives for a tradition that became a regular fixture under King Haakon VII in 1906. This year, King Haakon VIII hosted, with his daughter and mother by his side.
An elegant gown with an asymmetric neckline:
For the occasion, Ingrid Alexandra wore a deep plum gown identified by royal fashion outlets as a Marmar Halim design. Its finely pleated fabric created texture throughout the silhouette, while the asymmetric neckline swept across one shoulder and dipped into a softly draped sleeve on the other.
The fitted bodice flowed into a floor-length skirt, giving the dress a fluid finish. Against the dark fabric, her red royal sash and sparkling decorations stood out, while long white opera gloves added another formal touch.
She styled her hair partially pulled back, keeping the neckline visible and giving her jewelry room to shine.
A sparkling family connection:
The standout accessory was the Norwegian Amethyst Tiara, which Ingrid Alexandra wore for the first time. The purple stones echoed the rich tone of her gown, creating a coordinated look without the need for a matching necklace.
The tiara also offered a connection to the women in her family. Both Queen Sonja and Queen Mette-Marit have worn the piece, with Mette-Marit choosing it for occasions including royal weddings and parliamentary galas.
Ingrid Alexandra completed her jewelry selection with diamond earrings associated with Crown Princess Märtha. Together, the contemporary gown and established royal jewels gave her ensemble a balance of personal style and family tradition.
Three generations at the palace:
The arrival photographs captured Ingrid Alexandra walking beside her father and grandmother through the palace’s ornate rooms.
Queen Sonja complemented her granddaughter’s dark gown with an ivory ensemble featuring an embellished bodice and flowing skirt, while King Haakon wore white tie and royal decorations.
Beyond the fashion, the evening continued a longstanding relationship between Norway’s monarchy and its elected representatives. According to the royal household, the dinner traditionally includes an address by the monarch and a response from the president of the Storting.
Its history stretches back 120 years, making Ingrid Alexandra’s appearance part of a royal custom spanning generations.
