Caroline of Monaco attended Wednesday’s opening of Victor Brauner, L’Aventure Magique at Villa Paloma, one of the Principality’s leading exhibition spaces, and she did so accompanied by her daughters, Charlotte Casiraghi and Alexandra of Hanover.
The event, held in this historic villa in Monaco, which for years has hosted temporary art exhibitions, brought together various cultural figures for an evening marked by the presence of the princess and her daughters. Closely tied to the artistic life of the Principality for decades, the princess moves with particular ease at this kind of event, and this time she did so with Charlotte and Alexandra by her side. It was a family outing with art as the backdrop, where fashion also played a starring role, since their outfits are pure inspiration for summer events.
The Monegasque royals are the perfect example of elegance running in the family, style, in their case, is literally in their (blue) blood. Grace Kelly was one of the most important fashion icons of the 1950s and, almost 40 years after her death, her legacy lives on. “She was the one who made elegance part of the Principality’s visual DNA,” stylist Benedetta Perazzo tells us.
“Of course, Monaco existed long before Grace Kelly became part of its story, but everything changed with her. The actress left New York never to return on April 4, 1956. She sailed on a transatlantic liner, surrounded by her family, six bridesmaids, her poodle Oliver and eighty, yes, eighty, suitcases and trunks. Inside them traveled the future of Monegasque fashion and the origin of what, seventy years later, would become the old money aesthetic the whole world would copy. Kelly’s impact on fashion is enormous.
Charlotte Casiraghi’s shirt dress look
Caroline has undoubtedly inherited the late princess’s passion for fashion and elegance, as well as her eye for detail and impeccable awareness of her image. And she’s not the only one. Her daughters also embody that ideal of timeless sophistication, skillfully making trends their own. “Charlotte brings an intellectual and cultural dimension that goes beyond fashion, while Alexandra embodies a more spontaneous elegance,” Perazzo reflects.
For this occasion, Charlotte chose a Chanel design, a house with which, like her mother, she has had a close relationship for years. It’s a midi shirt dress from the Coco Beach 2026 collection, a summery proposal in which the maison reinterprets the stripe print. Made of silk in a mix of blue, red, beige, brown and white tones, it stands out for its fluid silhouette, mid-calf length and a perfect balance between comfort and relaxed elegance. She finished the look with gold sandals with a comfortable heel and a quilted bag by the French house.
Black and white as a synonym of timeless elegance for Caroline of Monaco
The princess went for one of the most classic, foolproof combinations there is: a white shirt and black midi skirt. However, she added special touches to give it a very personal twist, leaving part of the shirt untucked and choosing a satin skirt. The piece is made of silk with a light drape, perfect for this time of year, and it features a delicate, romantic lace hem. For accessories, she chose a gold Chanel belt and gold jewelry, and on her feet, leather sandals with a sensible heel.
Alexandra of Hanover goes all in on red
Caroline’s youngest daughter opted for a minimalist dress, a trendy design that, at the same time, never goes out of style. In fact, we could easily imagine Grace Kelly herself in a piece with this cut. It’s a design with thin straps, a straight neckline and a fitted bodice down to the hips, where a corolla-style skirt flares out to the ankles. With no prints or embellishments, it proves that a great cut is all you need for a truly stunning dress. She completed the look with black sandals featuring a high, block heel and a small velvet pouch bag.
