Prince Harry and Prince William gear up for major trips abroad

A source explains why there's some overlap between the trips, which are both taking place in the Americas

Prince Harry and Prince William have kicked off some important trips. While both siblings are traveling to separate destinations, the dates have coincided, with Prince Harry sharing a last minute itinerary of his trip to Canada.

Prince Harry will be traveling to Toronto to commemorate "Remembrancetide," a period that spans two weeks until Remembrance Sunday, celebrating the veterans and soldiers that have fought for their country.

In the case of Prince William, he'll be traveling to Brazil to celebrate the 2025 Earthshot Prize, an event that he founded five years ago to recognize and encourage ideas and possible solutions to repair the planet. Finalists are rewarded with large sums of money that can be used to further develop these ideas.

According to a source that spoke with our sister website HELLO, both events were planned months ago, with Harry's date scheduled by the charity he's working with. The coincidence between both trips was unintended, with Harry's trip taking place during these days due to security concerns, something that he has to deal with since he no longer holds IPP status following his step back from royal duties.

"As such he is not afforded the same level of security and protection as other ‘working’ members of the royal family," said the source.

The brothers, busy with work

This week, Harry reportedly met with soldiers from different organizations, including the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada and the Royal Regiment of Canada. In a letter posted on his website, Harry wrote about his dedication to veterans and to his country, the UK, making it clear that while he now lives in the US, “Britain is, and always will be, the country I proudly served and fought for.”

"Remembrance isn’t confined to one weekend in November. It’s a lifelong commitment to empathy, gratitude, and action; to be kinder, more united, and braver in protecting what those before us fought to preserve."

Prince William's trip began the same day as his brother, with the Earthshot Prize Awards taking place today, November 5th, at the Museum of Tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro. This year's voting panel is made up of various notorious figures, among them Gisele Bundchen, Queen Rania, Cate Blanchett, chef Jose Andres, and David Attenborough

"Rio, with its energy, its people and its iconic landscapes, feels like the perfect place to celebrate the power of environmental innovation," said William to HELLO! "This region is home to some of the world’s most vital ecosystems and some of its most passionate environmental defenders."
