Being in nature is meaningful to the Princess of Wales. Her Royal Highness revealed in a new film that she finds a "sense of peace" in the natural world. "I find it a very spiritual and very intense emotional reconnection I suppose, these environments," Catherine shared in the video. "Not everyone has that same relationship perhaps with nature, but it is so therefore meaningful for me as a place to balance and find a sort of sense of peace and reconnection in what is otherwise a very busy world."

Scouts and Access to Nature - The Princess of Wales and Dwayne Fields

The Princess appeared in the special film, released on April 14, with Chief Scout Dwayne Fields. Per the Scouts, which Catherine has been joint president of since September 2020, the film was shared on social media to inspire more individuals to get into nature and consider volunteering for the Scouts. In the video, Catherine and Dwayne led Scouts and Explorer Scouts on a hike in the Lake District.

"What's so fantastic about Scouts is that the same foundations has sort of always been there, and still, despite how different the modern day world is now, actually, it still resonates with so many young people and it's making such a massive difference to them," the Princess of Wales said.

Dwayne noted that having someone of Catherine's profile as their joint president "is great for the Scout movement." The chief scout said, "When you come out into a natural environment it helps you understand yourself that much more. We really belong in nature. We're in tune with it. And I think we need to come back to it because there is definitely something about being in nature that's connected to our well-being."

Catherine has previously spoken about the power of nature. In a message to commemorate the opening of new gardens at the Natural History Museum of London last year, the Princess, who was undergoing a course of preventative chemotherapy at the time, said (via screenshots captured by Fox News): "I know the power of nature to support our development and wellbeing, both by bringing us joy and helping to keep us physically, mentally and spiritually healthy."

When the Princess announced in September that she had completed her chemotherapy treatment, she did so with a video filmed in Norfolk. At the time, it was understood that the royal mom of three had drawn strength from her family, loved ones and from spending time on things that bring her joy, and those elements along with the sanctuary she found in the natural world were all represented strongly in the video.

Just last month, Catherine celebrated Mother's Day in the UK with a tribute to Mother Nature. Alongside a video featuring different clips of nature, the Princess penned: "Over the past year, nature has been our sanctuary. This Mother’s Day, let us celebrate Mother Nature and recognise how our bond with the natural world can help not only nurture our inner selves, but remind us too of the role we play within the rich tapestry of life. C."
