Andrea Meza knows what it’s like to have the world’s attention. In May 2021, the Chihuahua-born beauty became the third Mexican woman to win Miss Universe, following Lupita Jones and Ximena Navarrete. Five years later, she is a familiar face on Telemundo, where her career has taken her from morning television to major live events and a permanent seat on La Mesa Caliente.
Before the pageants and television cameras, Andrea studied software engineering at the Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua. She once recalled being the only woman in one of her classes, an experience that made her aware of how few women were pursuing careers in technology. Winning Miss Universe eventually opened the door to television.
After winning the crown, Meza became a regular on two TV shows, ‘Hoy Día’ and ‘En Casa con Telemundo’. However, balancing both shows eventually took its toll. In a 2025 interview, she shared that she felt physically and mentally exhausted. This led her to step away from both programs to focus on her well-being and spend more time with her husband, Ryan Proctor, whom she married earlier that year.
Her connection to Miss Universe also brought new opportunities. She served as captain of Team Rubí on Miss Universe Latina, El Reality, helping contestants prepare for the competition. In November, she traveled to Thailand as a judge for Miss Universe.
Last summer, Andrea joined La Mesa Caliente, where she discusses entertainment, relationships, and current events. The show celebrated its fourth anniversary in March 2026 and, according to Telemundo, ranked No. 1 among Spanish-language programs in its time slot for adults ages 18–49.
Her calendar has remained busy outside the studio. Andrea hosted Telemundo’s Bienvenido 2026 New Year’s Eve special, which won a People’s Telly Silver Award. She also joined Aleyda Ortiz in Dallas to co-host the network’s World Cup celebration parade in June. On October 22nd, she will help present the blue carpet at the Billboard Latin Music Awards in Miami.
Andrea has found a balance that works for her, with a career that continues to bring exciting opportunities without the demanding schedule she once had. Five years after winning Miss Universe, she is building a reputation as a television personality, proving there is much more to her story than the crown that made her famous.
